Fantasia Gets Honorary Diploma

...um...ok? If we get lucky that trainwreck of a show will get taken off

link

The American Idol third-season champ received an honorary degree from Andrews High School in High Point, NC on Saturday, CBS' WFMY-TV Greensboro affiliate reported.

Barrino attended the school as a teenager but subsequently dropped out when she became pregnant at the age of 16. She subsequently gave birth to her daughter Zion in August 2001.

Barrino attended Saturday's graduation ceremony at the Greensboro Coliseum and donned a cap and gown as she walked with the high school's Class of 2010.

VH1 renewed Fantasia for Real, a reality series that follows Barrino as she balances her personal and professional lives, for a second season in April.

It is currently slated to premiere later this year.

That's wonderful that they honored her.

It takes an ignant broken English bitch to need an honorary high school diploma. She's such a statistic even with whatever talent and success she has.

I've heard of awarding someone an honorary Doctorate or even an honorary Law degree but, never a high school diploma. I didn't even know they did such a thing. Maybe some school wanted to be able to brag that Fantasia carries their name with her. I don't know. I just didn't realize you could do that. That is very interesting.

Honorary diplomas are given a lot of times, I just thought that with everything that she has been going thru that maybe she would get a real one...not for show.

ETA: It was her old high school BTW...read the article

She's a little young to be getting an honorary diploma. She could have earned her GED with no problem.

My high school gave my great-grandpa an honorary high school diploma... when he was in his 80's though. He went to high school there, left school early to join WWI, after the war was accepted at Notre Dame (even without finishing high school) and played football for Knute Rockne, then became a popular northern ohio architect.

Let's not confuse that with her getting her GED...and I may need to correct myself somewhat also.

She passed her GED test but along with that, she is getting the opportunity to walk the stage also...I am thinking that is the point of the article.

@Drolefille....nah

I'm confused. Is she an ignant broken English bitch or had she been proactive and gotten a GED?

She got her GED but got all the trimmings (7 years later) to go along with it.

Okay. Then I would like to apologize to Fantasia.

She's still a statistic.
