advice for my chapter

Ok, those of you who have read my threads know that I may or may not be transferring next year. Right now it looks like I probably won't. Here's where the problem comes in: its do or die time for my chapter. If we don't get at least 15 girls this rush, we probably will be closed. Other chapters on our campus have not been too helpful, and unfortunately we have a terrible greek advisor who doesn't give a crap about us or what happens to us. The only good thing is that I have an awesome pledge class who has really pulled it together. Four of us went to state day at Elon and got really great ideas. Plus we talked to national officers there about getting help for our chapter. It scares me to death, knowing that they might close us down, but I didn't know what else to do. We don't have a chapter that is close to us, so I don't know if anyone is coming to help us through rush. The scary part is aftre people have graduated and people who are studying abroad, we only have like 15 people going into recruitment. And this is on a campus where total is 120. Any advice from any of y'all on pulling us out of this?

OK, I'm obviously off my beloved Pi Phi board, but I love to read about what other sororities do.

Could some alumnae come help during recruitment? Besides upping the body count, you could point to them and stress that your sisterhood is forever. If the other sorority chapters at your school haven't been helpful, maybe you could turn to some of the fraternity chapters. Maybe some would be willing to wear T-shirts promoting your chapter. I just hate to see any chapter of any GLO close.

Hi!
I would hate to hear about ANY chapter closing, that is just horrible..
when is your formal recruitment? can you COB throughout the year???
Maybe you could set up a table in the student union, pass out flyers with dates on when to meet "the ladies of Phi Mu"
go to housing..post flyers in the freshman wings etc..
maybe one day you can have a phi mu day where girls can come hang out and meet everyone so that when they go through rush they know what you are all about...go to some freshman experience classes and offer information about greek life...in general GET SEEN!
there are tons of little things that you can do...do you have a house??
we dont have a house here so im not sure if all my ideas will work for you..
post posters and colorful images about Phi Mu... market 150 years of sisterhood..maybe make a banner with all of Phi Mu's accomplishments nationwide, how much money is given to philanthropy etc, get them curious... at the end of the banner leave an open question like.."want to know more about whats behind Phi Mu...come to....bla bla bla..."
or..."think sorority life is not for you...come meet a group of girls who will show you what sisterhood is all about..."
tell me a lil more about your campus, how many girls you have...are any of your current members active on campus in any way??
ill do my best to get my mind churning with ideas

chapter advise

When is your recruitment? Depending on the time of year - we may be able to send some girls from Gamma Chi down to help out - Greensboro, NC. The girls are always willing to help another chapter out - they've been to Wake for 2 years, High Point and Chapel Hill.

Email direct if you'd like - I'd be more than willing to talk to you and offer any help I can - I'm Gamma Chi's adviser.
