Eastern Star? Do you know?
HI, I would like to obtain some knowledge. If I am not related to a Mason, how do I begin to find out how to join the Eastern Stars? I know that I am planning in putting my children in Rainbows so that when they are old enough to be in college the process would be easier for them, However allow me to display my scenerio:
I am 32 and just got out of the service while my husband is still active. My best friend/sister will be joining a chapter in San Diego soon through bloodline,
of course that is not an option for me, however I am getting a recommendation from my best friend as well as her brother who is a master mason and from another one of my friends.
Outside of my circle of friends, I wanted to have other views.
Honestly am I too old to join? Do I even have a chance of getting accepted? I am in college, although a late starter, I plan to finish and this is something that I would love to go through with my children.
I would like to know how will the process be for me?

why don't you google "eastern star" and see what comes up. you could probably speak directly to someone at eastern star headquarters and get all the information you need.
individual greekchatters may be members of the eastern star, but there is no eastern star forum here at greekchat.

I did, I got all my general information but to wrap it all up it just says to contact my local chapter, which since we are relocating to Oklahoma city I tried their website but it was temporarily out of order, soooo I am just impatient I guess. I would love to pledge in SD but I wont be here longer than 2 weeks, so starting out ina new place where I do not know anyone is definitely giving me butterflies.

My understanding is, you don't. In order to join, you have to be a Master Mason in good standing (if you are male) or be related to one (if you are female), or you have to have been a member of Job's Daughters or Rainbow. The definition of a relative is pretty broad, though - step and in-law relationships count - you might find something in your family tree.

You can join without blood relative. My Papaw joined the Masons that way. Just call the office and see what the process is. BTW, you're definitely not too old. You're probably too young. Trust me.

The Masons are different then the Order of the Eastern Star. You have no idea what you are talking about.
