It's like a yearbook for incoming freshman.

Have you seen "Dead Man on Campus"? The weird roommate from the all-boys Catholic school is always talking about the freshman face book. My school has that, but it cost money to put your pic in it, so I was like...no.

We have a freshman facebook...it's free to put your picture in, but it's 15 dollars to buy it. I loved mine so much that I got facebooks for the three classes preceding mine, and the class following mine. They're always a good read. I think smaller schools do it more often--we have 1,500 freshmen and I've heard putting ours together is a pain...imagine UF's freshman class? Don't they have somewhere around 5,000 freshmen coming in a year?

The only thing I've ever heard about freshmen facebooks is bad. Actually, I just saw it on my fave movie, Dead Man on Campus. What exactly are they used for? Are there good ways to use them too?

We were each given one my freshman year. They just had our ID picture. We only had about 420 freshmen, which was actually a big class Anyway, they are good for looking to see if there's anyone from the same area as you, or something like that. We used them during rush my sophomore year. They weren't out in time last year. It's good during rush to put a face with a name, especially during voting time.

most of the people who buy the freshman facebook are the incoming freshmen... who use it to learn names of people they've seen around school, or to put a face with a name. nothing bad about that. fraternities and sororities can also use the facebook as a way of getting acquainted with the incoming class of potential rushees. if a frat guy meets a cool freshman at a party, he might look the guy up in the facebook the next day to help remember his name and where he's from. sometimes fraternities call up girls out of the facebook and invite them to parties--a little sketchy, but no big deal. my sorority uses the facebook as a way of getting a picture of every potential rushee (most girls rush at my college), rather than having to rely on the freshmen to send in good pictures when they register to rush.

Ya know, I don't deny that I can be a bit of an airhead sometimes, and I won't deny it here as I say:

So THAT'S why the Greek Affiars Office handles the freshman facebooks here! I never even thought of that!

We got Freshman Facebooks too. Like AlphaChiGirl, it was free to put your pic in it, but you had to pay like $10 for it. And then my new roommate and I sat for like 3 hours and circled all of the men we planned on meeting...it was about 50. Proud to say, I met 35 of them It was silly, but a lot of fun!
