Sorority rush is a few months away (I'm going to rush NPHC sororities)
I hear the rush process is only a few days to a week,

Yeah, these things won't narrow down which school you're at in Indiana at all. Being rude to NPHC members here is pretty danged stupid. Even I know that and I'm in the NPC.
I'd be much more concerned about other legal ramifications than prospective sorority membership.
Now back to your previously scheduled lane change.

To the OP- it can't hurt to try recruitment, like someone else said- just be honest

She said she was interested in NPHC. They don't recruit like we do. Maybe your should re-read and realize this isn't your specialty.

Alright first off, I wasn't being rude to anyone else before the comments began. Secondly, I'm reading about NPC and NPHC and now I learning they're two different councils b/c what do you mean , AOII LB93, when you say they don't recruit like we do?
and thank you tri deezy for the uplift

50ccerfan isn't really an NPHC aspirant.

Ok, so I was totally confused b/c when sunsuret said 3 out of 4 sororities do background checks, I thought she meant to say the school she rushed her school had 4 sororities but I just googled it and she was talking about the four African-American sororities. I'm rushing NPHC, and we have about 15 of those sororities at my school.
I just confused why one has panhellenic( as one word) and the other is Pan hellenic( two words) yet they're totally different. This thread has just gone to shambles now... :/

No you're mistaken. The NPHC: National Pan-Hellenic Council represents 4 historically black sororities. You must be referring to the NPC: National Panhellenic Council, which you learn more about here http://www.npcwomen.org/ or by doing a search on the boards.
Obviously, you need to do a little more research, as they're two different councils. Good luck!

LOL. Sen, you're a woman now.
To 50ccerfan - there are not 15 NPHC sororities. That is probably why none of our replies are making sense to you. You need to do more research.

Actually it went that way a long time ago. And Sensuret is man who is in one of the NPHC or D9 fraternities.

Like I said.
Plus, 50ccerfan isn't too bright. This is why basic information should be sought before coming to GC for advice.

If your school has 15 sororities of a specific council, then you're rushing NPC.
And starting your thread off on the defensive right out of the gate is like starting a sentence, "Don't take this the wrong way, but..."
Either way, good luck. Stuff happens and your mistake didn't harm anyone, so you shouldn't be punished for it beyond the extent of your court mandated penance. But people are judgmental and picky (especially with something as superficial as sorority recruitment--when you have just a few minutes to make a lasting impression), so who knows whether it will affect you. Just be honest yet discreet and hope for the best.

So the two posters who typed about rush and recruitment were on target after all.

Considering I graduated with well over a 3.3 with AP credit in high school, I wouldnt say I'm the dumbest But it isn't polite to brag.
And I'd only think sensuret was a woman b/c he's posting in a SORORITY forum. Sorry
I was going to correct my mistake on calling NPHC NPC when you jumped on me for it. Yea I should;ve had my facts straight, but sorry I don't spend every moment obsessing and researching Greek life, especially since it isn't really an academic type of pursuit

Sure you don't have to obsess over it, but if you are interested in a particular type of sorority, you should at least know what council it is in.
And FYI: academics are indeed an important factor in joining a sorority.

OK?!
I like how our "obsession" with Greek life becomes overbearing when the n00b gets an answer that's different than what s/he expected
