"Goodbye" songs

Can you all list any "goodbye" or exit songs for recruitment that you know? Looking for some new ideas to pass along. Thanks!

This isn't exactly a new idea, but my chapter sings "Linger" as an exit song. I know there's another good one but I can't think of it right now.

We always sang "Got Along Without You" at the end of pref and it sounded wonderful! Gave me chills up the spine.

Thumbs up

Awesome, ladies - thanks! Keep 'em coming!

LeslieAGD, can you post the words to "Linger"? I think I know the tune, but don't have the words.

greeklawgirl, ooh, good one! Didn't think of it - thanks!

squirrely girl, I haven't heard that one - great words! Is it a peppy, fun one? I wish we could upload sound files... I'll have to get the tape from IHQ.

Keep 'em comin'!!!

For Pref night, we exit to "Our Time is Short." All the other nights we just do songs or chants.

Here are the words to Linger...also, Maria, can you post the words to "Got Along Without You"? Marissa, what is the tune to your song? I've never heard either of these!

Linger

Mmm, I want to linger
Mmm, a little longer
Mmm, a little longer here with you
Mmm, it’s such a perfect night
Mmm, it doesn’t seem quite right
Mmm, to be the last one here with you
Mmm, Alpha Gam (3x)
And you

Got Along Without You

Got along without you
Before we met you
Can't get along without you now.

We liked you so
But its time to go
Won't you come again anyhow?

Its been so great
But its getting late
Still, we want you to know
That with us you rate

So to our dear friends
Until we meet again
Alpha Gam says goodbye to you.

Mm-mm Alpha Gam
Mm-mm Alpha Gam
Mmm Alpha Gam for you
Mm-mm Alpha Gam
Mm-mm Alpha Gam
Nothing else will do.

There is some really neat melody and harmony going on at the same time while singing. Our chapter was not really musical, and it still managed to sound really nice!

Edielwise

not spelled right but that is the tune. We call it the Alpha Gam Round. the highs sing one part and the lows sing another. It is just Alpha Gamma Delta set to the tune of Edelwise (I think it is also known as Green Sleeves)

I always thought the best rush songs were the ones where we took a popular song (or old classic song) and changed the words. We used the theme from Friends one year, and another one we used was an old "jingle" from Coca Cola. I still wake up sometimes in the middle of the night with those songs in my head!!

We didn't do it very often, but I think it's a great idea for rush because women will recognize the tune and remember it after they leave the house! The Alpha Gam songs are great, but the rushees won't recognize them and the songs won't stick in their heads as much.

Thanks, ladies! This really helped! Another one that a friend emailed me:

Who’s the Best Sorority?
Who’s the best sorority?
Look at us and you will see,
There is no sorority,
Like Alpha Gamma Delta!

We are always having fun,
Don’t you wish that you where one?
When it’s all said and done,
It’s Alpha Gamma Delta!

Closer, come listen to me
When you do you will agree
There is no sorority
Like Alpha Gamma Delta!

Our sorority takes popular songs & changes the words too. The only downside is you have to change them every year but they are great for rush! PM me & I'll get the words to some we use for Theme night.
