rush at USC

Hi everyone. Sorry, another nervous PNM here. I have been lurking for a while and reading up on different things to expect during recruitment. However, I couldn't find anything on my school, and I was wondering if anyone had some insight for me. I start recruitment very soon at the University of South Carolina. I know Greek Life is pretty competitive here. I do have some recs, but I'm a legacy to one of the chapters, and I heard that sometimes that can be a bad thing. I am worried I am this might work against me. I wondering if anyone had some advice for me.

My sister, who is active at another chapter told me to keep and open mind, and even suggested some other sororities to look into. I am still worried with everything, and was just hoping for a little advice. Thanks in advance!

In terms of being a legacy, I wouldn't worry about it. If a chapter is going to cut you for being a legacy to another chapter, what can you do about it? Nothing.

Be open minded, get recs, don't do anything dumb to draw attention to yourself (i.e. be a drunken scene at a party or something). Read the advice threads around the forums, there's tons.

Univ. of South Carolina

It would be wise to have references for all the NPC chapters at South Carolina.

That is good advice - keep an open mind. Make the decisions that are right for you and not for anyone else like your recruitment group, and ignore trash talking, rumors, etc.

Recruitment at USC is competitive, but not cut throat like at some other schools. Put your best foot forward, enjoy yourself, demonstrate genuine interest, ask good questions, be sincere and complimentary about the parties, house, decor, etc, and smile and demonstrate enthusiasm for being involved (without overdoing it), and you will be fine.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you!!!
