Quoting myself from last March because our daughter just did it again! It is so weird to sit around the phone and listen to the pirates ride! And yes, we were all yelling for the redhead!

After talking to AXOAlum the other day, I now reeeaally want to go see the refurbished Haunted Mansion.

Hmmm...mine's gotta be a toss-up between Splash Mountain and the Matterhorn. But the teacups are a CLASSIC, you absolutely must.

I am going at the end of the month for my birthday! I haven't been since before I graduated highschool!

My favorite is Pirates of the Caribbean! It has been my favorite since I was a little kid long before the movie!

We just got back! I really liked the updates to the Haunted Mansion, which was closed last time we went. This time, Space Mountain and WEDWay (now the Tomorrowland Transit Authority?) were closed. Spaceship Earth is better now too.

What did they update on the Haunted Mansion? Is it worth the line? Any suggestions on what to get fastpasses for? My friend and I will only be there a day and we want to do as much as possible and we both haven't been there in years!

My new favorite is the Toy Story 3D arcade ride at MGM/Hollywood Studios. We're a family of hardcore Disney veterans, and we aren't willing to wait in long lines for much anymore, but we've voluntarily waited as much as 2 hours for this one. It's THAT good!

We got fastpasses for Splash Mountain (get them early, they're all gone by midday), Peter Pan's Flight, Big Thunder Mountain, and the Jungle Cruise. I can't tell what they took out of the Haunted Mansion but there's this new section with staircases going everywhere plus the ghosts in the graveyard are way better and the story of the bride in the attic is clarified.

SigKapSweetie, we missed the MGM Toy Story Ride! The line was so long by the time we got there (we spent the morning in Animal Kingdom) that we bypassed it. For the first time, though, we all took the backstage tour and it was great--2 of our girls and our 2 exchange students were chosen to be in the stage show and it was hilarious!

DisneyLAND

I only went to Disney World when I was a toddler, but I've been to the original Disney - Disneyland - many times. Pirates has always been my favorite, followed by Thunder Mountain, Teacups, and for some reason, the Jungle Boat.

My friends just returned from a weekend at Disneyland and discovered that Small World is back open (in case anyone is interested) after a modernization. According to my friends, not too much is different, but Disney added in some Disney characters among the children of the world.

I had not been following this thread or I would have asked you to say"Hi" to my daughter who was an intern in the Animal Kingdom working the educational areas teaching the kids about the animals and the environment. On Monday she starts a second internship for Disney working with the coordinators of the interns. She absolutely loves working for Disney and would love for this to turn into a permanent job.

I have never been to DisneyWorld but have been to Disneyland a zillion times-- for the last 19 years I have lived only 30 miles away.

We went to Orlando for convention in 2006, and it was also one of my sister's birthdays. We went to the Magic Kingdom, and I don't know if you know about this, but.. she went to guest services, told them it was her birthday, and they gave her a big birthday button to wear. We all told her she looked like a dork, but she said, "Oh, just watch what happens.."

ALL DAY everyone in the park was wishing her a happy birthday, she was able to pick where she wanted to sit on a few of the rides, and she got a free dessert at one place we ate, and free fries at another.

So if you don't mind wearing a big button all day, you'll definitely get some perks.

Anyway.. one of my favorite rides was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I'm sad it's not there anymore. And Space Mountain is definitely a must

I had heard that they give you something to wear and that people wish you a happy birthday, but I didn't know about perks! I will have to check that out! I am actually going on my birthday because it is free this year! I am not sure if this is just a Florida resident thing (I don't think it is).

When I called to check on my hotel reservation they asked if there was a celebration or special occasion and they were life "Happy Birthday" very loudly! I couldn't help but laugh! I am looking forward to a fun time with one of my best friends!

By the way, I have always wondered how Disneyland compares with Disney World? Has anyone been to both? I have heard that Disneyland is a lot smaller, and that some of the rides are slightly different such as the Haunted Mansion?

We just read that the work planned in Fantasyland will be more extensive that first thought and they'll be taking down the Snow White ride. There'll be a different one elsewhere in that section--seems like they said that it'll focus on the dwarves' mine--but I'm not too sad about the old one closing. I haven't ridden it since I was in college and the witch kept leaping out at us. It's been redone some since then.

There's also going to be a Little Mermaid ride and a princess greeting area and I forget what else.
