Transfering Schools

I have just finished my first year of college, pledging one semester and a brother the next. It was a really great experience, but I do not think I am at the college for me. I am considering transfering to another college that would better suite my needs. One thing that was important to me was that the college I transfer to had a solid chapter, so I could stay involved. The hardest thing is leaving my current fraternity, mainly my pledge brothers who I have only spent a year with. A few kids out of our fraternity leave yearly due to grades (we party a lot), so it is not like I am the only one, but thats not really the issue. These guys will be MY friends for life, but I do not want to transfer colleges and have them lose that perspective regarding me. I guess I am worrying about things I cannot control. I might be over analyzing this, and they may be supportive of my decision, as I expect my best friends would be. It is just a tough thing to do, but in the end I know moving schools would be the best for me. If I had not joined the specific fraternity I did, this decision would be a no brainer. I still plan on going to some of our larger fraternity events every year back at the old school if I do transfer. I am just looking for some insight and opinions I guess. In the end though, I think I must do what is best for me. But again, these are my friends and if I do transfer I plan on doing my part in keeping contact and all that stuff.

Maybe not. I just want to hear some opinions from people involved in Greek Life that may have been in a similar situation. Its a big decision, so I want hear peoples thoughts on what they might do and their reasoning. I am always willing to listen to others opinions and see if they can help me in my decision.

Personally I think that you already have it figured out. Do what's right for you academically. Your future should be your first priority. Your friendships will remain if you continue to work at them.
