Chapter traditions

I was chatting with one of the the sisters in my JC chapter, and she was saying that her chapter has a teacup tradition. Whenever one of the chapter sisters gets married, she donates a set of her wedding china teacup/saucer to the chapter. I thought that was a neat tradition, especially if you have a chapter house to display all of them.

I'm not sure if it's continued every year, but when I was an undergrad at Delta Sigma at the University of Hawaii, a hula is performed at the initiation luncheon in honor of our new sisters.

Does your chapter doing anything unique that other chapters might not do?

LIEP,
Amy

I've heard of that teacup tradition! I think it is so cool! If it's Chi-Michigan State, I believe they serve tea at their Preference party out of some of the teacups. Each member signs the bottom of the teacup so you know whose it is. Very special and unique tradition!

We did that too!

My chapter also had the tea cup tradition. We used them on special occasions, mostly when alumnae came to visit.
Which reminds me...I never sent one in when I got married! OOPS!

Here in Michigan, both Chi and Alpha Beta have tea cup collections.

Rose petals

Here at theta Ups, after initation, every lady pulls off one of her petals from her roses and places them in a glass bowl. My class was the charter class but the problem was that we didn't dry them correctly, so they molded. But we learned from there and so all the roses since then are now layered.

I like the tea cup tradition, we have had two weddings since we started but we have three this summer and another in December so this would be something we could start.

Another little tradition we have is every new member gets a badge box for initation. We try to have them at Fireside but sometimes it doesn't work. But this was a tradition that the Alumni started for us and something we are working at keeping. The great thing about being a new chapter is the new traditions we are starting.
