Question What would you do for love?

Hey all!
Ever since I saw Ja Rule's video with Charlie Baltimore, it got me thinking. For those who haven't seen it, in the video they do a crime and he gets away; she gets caught. Eventually she goes to jail without disclosing who her partner was. She gets out and he picks her up in a big plane, etc. Maybe this situation is different, but I don't see myself going to jail for anyone. I am willing to support my man in any way I can but if he did something and wanted me to take the blame...that would be a problem. I was taught that you have to accept the consequences of your actions.

In real life, there are young girls/guys who are getting caught up in mess because they either were unaware or trusting. IMO, promises don't mean anything because those years/months are gone forever. BTW, it happens to grown women also..anyone see that Lifetime movie that was out a few months ago?

Any thoughts?

You know that brings up a good question...... What would I do for love? I don't think I would go to jail for him but I would say, push him out of the way of a car. I would do a lot of things for love but they are a little more realist then the car thing.- UDZETA

It's impossible to put myself in the position to say what I would or wouldn't do in the name of love. That whole Charli B-more video with Ja Rule is a lil "far-fetched" (Who is really that darn stupid?!) While her man is out running the streets, she's stuck in jail being bullied by some beastly looking chick. I know for a fact, that I would not go to jail for some guy....there ain't that much love in the world.

Innocence 22, I have to concur with your reply,

No man is worth "catching a case" over -there is not that much love in the world.

Oh no ma'am!!!, this is not the "Bonnie and Clyde" theme. I'll love someone but I'll only go so far. Any man worth your time would not put you in that situation. You're sitting in jail while he's out doing what he wants to do, leave him alone!!!

If you meant that much to him... he would marry you.

Thankfully, I have never been in this situation and never will! A little bit off the subject but the Lifetime movie that I saw had a grown woman who went to jail because she answered the phone! Her friend was into some type of mess and somehow it was decided that she must have known what was going on...It doesn't seem right. It was based on a true story and I guess that sort of thing happens often. The sad part was, she had two young children who had to grow up without her.

related to the Jah Rule/Charli Baltimore song - there is another out (it might be old, though) about a young couple. The story line is he's a hustler and she's been told to stay away from him but she's down regardless. The girl is singing:

no matter what people say/ i'm gonna love him anyway...

something about being a soldier and a friend, holding on to the end. I just hope the young people don't see the videos or hear these songs and think that's what love is all about.

i cannot see myself being with ANY man involved in criminal activities. You never know, YOU may be prosecuted along with him... whether you know you're "in" or not. Anyone remember the case about that girl at Hampton a few years back?

Remember it quite well. Thankfully, President Clinton pardoned her otherwise she would still be there.

Can you say Kemba Smith or at least I think that is what the young lady's name is. Just because you don't know will not stop you from going to jail!
We all say what we would or wouldn't do but until you are in a situation you do not know what your reaction will be. We all would like to think we would not be a fool for love. Look around you how many friends or associates do you know who have been a fool?

On her latest album, Faith Evans has a song "I'll do your time with you", where she's "singing" a letter to her man in jail about how she's going to "do his time with him" and stand by him while he does his time. I LOVE this song, but I was like, I don't know if I could do that...

I watch Oz - I ain't tryin' to go to jail, much less for something that SOME DUDE did.

Her name is Kemba Smith and she was the speaker at the Eastern Regional Social Action Luncheon last year in Baltimore. It's sad that many of our young girls are in the same situation as she was: involve w/ a drug dealer.

I believe she was finishing up her BS at Virginia State or Virginia Union and wants to work in the legal profession.

I know of women that have done worse for love. When someone is really in love(or what they think is love) they will do crazy things! They will go that extra mile for anything thier man or sometimes women will ask them to do! Well I think it is crazy but I am just 1 man - with Millions and Millions of Fans.

Sisterfriends (and Brotherfriends), if I were in the position that Charlie Baltimore was in JaRule's video, I'm sorry, but I'd sing like a bird. There is just NO WAY that WE would be the ones to commit a crime and I'M the only one who serves the time for it. I mean, I love my freedom TOO much. In situations like THAT, if I go down, then my man (if he's involved) WILL go down with me. I mean, I love my husband and everything...BUT you can FORGET my taking the rap ALONE for some crime that he played a part in ALONG WITH me. That's out!!! Honestly!!

OK, there is no way in the world that I would go to jail for a man and I love mine to death!!! Some of the girls that I counsel(I work in a juvenile facility) don't understand that. Some of them think that it's cool to do that for your man. I try to impress upon them that while you are in jail doing your time and being harrased by some Big Bertha looking woman, he's out living it up with another woman. I tell them that if he really loved you or cared anything about you, he'd be there with your family on visiting days or called you once a week. They don't care. It's sad. Did any of you see that movie on Court TV about the wife whose husband sold drugs and he turned on her saying that she was the ringleader? 10 years of her life gone. 3 kids that grew up in foster homes. All because she was in love with her man and turned a blind eye, or was too afraid to check into her man's past. Don't let this happen to you!!

I would never go to jail over some nonsense my man did. I cannot imagine being with a man who would allow that to happen. I love myself too much to and I have worked too hard to let something like that happen to me.

If my child's life was threatened by someone, then maybe I would take the law in my own hands and face the consequence. But any man who thinks I would risk going to jail for him must be out of his mind.
