I read it a different way.

In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun. So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

I don't know if this has already been said, but she also posted the 1st chapter of Midnight Sun on her site.

Oh, I forgot to add that Breaking Dawn was my favorite!

Oh, she posted more than the 1st chapter. It's the entire leaked draft.

I know that I'm responding to myself, but I guess it doesn't make much sense to publish Midnight Sun when half of it is posted on her website. It doesn't give us anything new, just more of Edward.

And more of Edward is a bad thing?
I liked reading those 12 draft chapters. There's a lot of those, "Ahhh now it makes sense" moments.

I'm about 2/3 through with Twilight now. My former roomie loaned me all 4 books recently. It makes for good reading while the baby sleeps.
I don't find it as compelling as some others seem to, but I'm enjoying the novel enough so far...

Don't get me wrong, I'm very Pro Edward!!
There adds a little insight. For example, I was wondering how he was suddenly in love with her. I'm sure I would get it if it were published. I'm just saying I understand why it may not be published.

I am rereading the series right now (yay Christmas presents!). Instead of doing Edward's perspective of Twilight, why not do New Moon? I think that would be interesting.

My aunt regifted me her copies for Christmas and I must say that I was more than a little skeptical at first but it was the only thing in the house so I started reading and I LOVE the books!!! The first one at least, I haven't quite finished it yet. Thank goodness she got the four books and not just the first one! lol.

I agree it would be interesting. But Stephanie Meyer said she wouldn't do New Moon from Edwards perspective because it would be too depressing. Entertainment Weekly's website has a video discussing that.
I think Ecilpse would be interesting from Edward's perspective.

The whole "from so-and-so's" perspective got me thinking ...
I'm sure all of the Cullens could have their own, but I would LOVE a Jasper vignette. Oh and more about the art on Carlise's office wall. Art history major here.

Yup, a while back - December 6. I've been keeping baby stuff on the semi-DL on GC for a variety of reasons. But yeah! babyness.

Ok, so I'm REALLLLLLLLY late to this party - but I just read these books last week, and I LOVED them. I read them all in about a week and a half - and when I was done, I really felt like I'd lost a best friend, it was that depressing to be done with them...did anyone else have that feeling?

Absolutely. You can read the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun on stepheniemeyer.com It is Twilight again but written from Edward's perspective. Interesting literary idea.
