President Gavels

Hey everyone,

I know this might seem like an odd question, but our chapter doesn't have a gavel, and I was really hoping to surprise my chapter with a gavel that's engraved for our current president that she can pass down to future presidents. So here is the question, what do most chapters have on their gavels? Obviously I was thinking of engraving our letters and chapter on there, and position, but is there anything else that should be on there? Thanks to anyone that can answer this odd question for me.

Ours was engraved with the sorority name, local chapter founding date, and the chapter's school name.

We have a greek store run by a Brother who will engrave our coat of arms and whatever you want on the band. Chapter name and school name at a minimum would be best.

Also, some chapters have a tradition of presenting a gavel to outgoing presidents. I've heard that some will swap the engraved band so that they keep the actual gavel they used as president.

I'm pretty sure ours has sorority name, local founding date, chapter name, and school name.

The sorority crest is on ours, but it was supplied by our National at the induction of our chapter. Maybe you should contact your National Board before purchasing one yourself.
