ha...maybe, I don't know how though.

Anyways, I just hope that these people don't get their jobs back, or get any similar type job. I wouldn't put it past my city to allow something like that.

How do you know that the agents didn't know whether this guy was a drug smuggler or not? I thought they saw the marijuana bales after the guy crashed his truck on the river bank. The guy was a repeat smuggler too so as far as any of us on this board know they could have ID'd the truck before as a possible suspected drug smuggling vehicle.

I won't disagree with you on how jacked up El Paso is but being a convicted felon pretty much bars you from making any type of decent living.

That was definitely sarcasm.

Sure the BP agents might have known the guy was a smuggler . . . but I don't think that's likely (in any of the forms we've discussed) and apparently neither did a jury. I feel like living with the felon label is fine with me, even if I'm not necessarily sure where I stand on the commutation as a whole.

Then again, I'm on record as taking a pretty hard-line stance on law enforcement issues, and think the Border Patrol is pretty much the definition of hapless.

Is that what happened? Cause that is not what I heard, or interpreted. I heard that they did NOT know he was a drug smuggler until after they shot him. In fact, they didn't even see him in the van, they just saw the guy running away from the van. There was no evidence this guy was even linked to the marijuana in the van. The 'drug smuggler' wasn't even arrested for drugs until a few months later, and it wasn't connected to this case.

At least Former President Bush knew that these 2 border patrol agents got a fair trial and just verdicts. I just don't like the whole idea that these two guys "suffered enough for their crime." Ummm...so are we gonna let out other criminals cause they 'suffered enough?'

Like I said, since none of us were there who knows what really happened or what was going through these guys minds when this was going on. Did he hear a gunshot and saw his partner on the ground...?

I mean, is there any evidence of this? Or is this just "possible-world" conjecture?

Even though none of us was there, there was a trial and evidence (or lack there of) was presented. I'm pretty sure that is more than just "hearsay" and rumors.

His partner was definitely not on the ground.
