I don't think anyone's brought up the idea of a new member program yet. I had some thoughts on a relatively low-key new member program... asking everyone to do some community service, learn the history of the greek system and maybe GC, learn/review some netiquette, etc.
The whole thing would be on the honor system - there will be no pledge line-ups in Gamma Chi - I know you're all disappointed
Plus, it gives us an excuse to put together a new member ceremony...

I love this idea! Please count me in!
I'm the Chapter Advisor for the Alpha Gams at University of Hawaii and Panhellenic President for the Alumnae Panhellenic of Hawaii.... also the Webmaster for the Hawaii Alumnae Chapter of AGD.... Are there any positions where I qualify to assist?
Or do I get to be one of your first pledges (er...new members)? LOL
We should get some Delta Zeta help here if we haven't already. They have a virtual alumnae chapter called Surfing Sisters. Dues paying members, t-shirts, and all... Very cool concept! and I like the Gamma Chi one even better!
Aloha,
Mai Ly

Website
I visited the Surfing Sisters site before they changed to DZ's only, and it was awesome. You're right, Mai Ly, they had dues, T-shirts, everything a regular chapter has, only they met online. They had regular meetings, organization, the whole none yards.
If there are any DZ's about, would you be willing to visit SS and find out about how to organize and operate that kind of site?
This is great. Keep the PM's coming! we are making so much progress!
Hooray for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to be a Gamma Chi too!
OMG - I CANNOT believe that I just found this post ... DEFINITELY count me in & sign me up for whatever needs doing ... PR, Outreach, paraphanalia - you name it & consider it done!! ...
This is the best idea ever & I can't wait to be part of it ... I'm SOO excited How cool will it be to have our Gamma Chi connection with others across the continent, let alone the country!!
I have a feeling that this could be the start of something BIG ...

Just to let anyone who is interested know, there will be a Scholarship committee meeting tonight in the chat room at 9:30 PST. Anyone who wants to help out or just want's to throw some ideas our way is welcome to come. Also, would it be possible for a member or two of the Membership Committee to attend as well? We have some questions we would like to propose to you and get some feedback. Hope to see all you interested people there!
Also, feel free to PM me if you need any details, or have any questions. Thanks again!

Tom et al,
Here's how I did my sig:
[ font=symbol ][ color=blue ][ b ]GC[ /b ][ /color ][ /font ] ... Sharing Common Themes from Around the World
I've inserted spaces within the brackets so it won't be parsed as vB code... obviously you will have to take out the spaces. You can edit your sig by clicking "user cp" then "edit profile".

philanthropy committee update
Hi!
Just chiming in for the philanthropy committee! I've just created a listserve for our committee at yahoo groups. This will come in handy so that members can communicate without having to cc others in e-mails, worry about weird greekchat PM systems and such. If you'd like to be on the philanthropy committee, or just want to check it out, feel free to visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GCphilanthropy/
We're currently trying to brainstorm some ideas. Don't worry, we'll present our ideas soon enough!
......Kelly

Hi,
Thanks to Kelly for the great idea of setting up a yahoo group for the philanthropy committee. I've stolen that idea for the Membership committee as well!
The membership committee listserv can be found at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GCmembership/
If anyone still wants to work on the membership committee, please let me know when you sign up for the yahoo group or PM me and let me know!
Christin
