Cadillac Records

Went to see a screening of it last night.

It's pretty good...Jeffrey Wright did a good job as Muddy Waters.

Pretty good movie overall and I think Mos Def as Chuck Berry stole the show.

Beyonce held her own and I think this may be her best work for the few roles that she has had.

Gabrielle Union I think really shined in this....one of the few roles that she is not playing some stuck up chick but a woman that stuck by her man despite his short comings

My only nitpick is that the lip synch work wasn't all that great but overall told a good story....I think a few people upon seeing this may try to compare this to Ray, especially since this was set along the same time period...Ray was great...this almost reached that level but doesn't just quite hit it....you will see what I mean when you see it.

Isn't this only her second one? Her movie with Idris Elba isn't out yet, is it?

I really want to see this but I'm trying to go into it with no expectiations (it's not working).

Lol, Goldfinger? You mean Goldmember?

That's right! I don't know why I thought Dreamgirls was her first movie--I knew for a fact that it was her fifth. I guess because she said she considered it her "first real acting role" I just forgot about Carmen, The Fighting Temptations, The Pink Panther, AND Goldmember. And I saw every last one of those, too!

Don't forget the hip hopera - Carmen...hehhehe,...hehe....sorry still laughing at that one....

and ummm...no she still doesn't sound as good as Etta James, but really I don't think Beyonce can sing anyways.

She has a nice ass...but.....that is about where that ends.

THANK YOU. I was just coming in here to say that I am HATING the idea of her playing the GREAT, FABULOUS Etta James. Her voice is not like Etta's. Jennifer Hudson would have been better than Beyonce.

What songs did she sing in the movie?

Sorry. You might be able to tell that I am a big Etta fan.

Hahaha! I know, right? I wish I could say the same about me but, unfortunately, mine has gone to the wind. When I lost weight, it was the first thing to go. It was one of the biggest traumas I experienced in 2008. Yes, I was really just that attached to my butt.

That's probably more about me than you'd ever need to know, but anyway...

I want to see the movie.
Adrien Brody scares me! Seriously, that mouse movie he was in *shivers*.
Beyonce still has yet to prove herself as an actress to me. Goldmember was a good performance from her, but she was a singer in all of her other movies. That doesn't show me any kind of acting skills.
I saw a clip of the movie where she's singing about her man marrying some other chick, but it felt like Beyonce on emotion (if emotion were a pill lol). Or Beyonce trying to sing like Eta James and be emotional. I'll give the movie a try though. I don't think Bey can go too wrong because she can perform her arse off and thats half the movie right there.

CG, yeah that was way TMI lol! Its okay though. I have plenty of homegirls that have had/ have that problem. I'll just add you to the list. (One of them actually bought butt pads. lol. How's that for TMI?)

My college roommate did and I accidentally saw them when she opened her drawer in front of me. When I realized what it looked like, I blurted out, "Is that a fake butt??"

That caused some serious tension.
