ok...

So my first date, though I am no longer with him, was by far the best. I was 15, he was 17. We went for coffee then ice skating. Then, we went on a hike by the lake to watch the sun set. Then, he said we had to get going because we had dinner reservations. I was confused and mad b/c I was so not prepared (dressed) for dinner reservations! Then, we ended up at his parents house (c'mon we were still in high school lol) where he had made me dinner and dessert, which we ate at a table decorated with candles by the pool in the back yard, which was decorated with pretty lights. hmmmm....

My best first date was a five-day road trip. Holy hell that was awesome.

My best first date was with my husband.

Before he asked me out we had been talking about the fireworks (a Vancouver event that happens every summer). I was telling him how I always wanted to see them from the water, and how I love being on boats.

He told me that he was going out the next night with his dad and brother on their boat. I was kind of disappointed he didn't ask me along, but it was guys night I suppose, and I didn't know his dad or brother, in fact I didn't really know my husband all that well.

A couple of days later he calls me to set up our first date for the upcoming Saturday. He told me we were going out on his Dad's boat to watch the fireworks. Then and there I knew he was a keeper. I was supper excited.

Ok, I was going to start a similar thread but found this one when I searched . . . so I'm a go ahead and revive a 2006 thread!

My best first date ever was this week. He picked me up on this huge motorcycle! He's 6'5'' and 265 lbs. Yep, imagine that with all 5' and 130 lbs. of little old me. I had never been on a motorcycle before and when I told him that over the phone, he immediately said we would go for a ride on our first date. The thought terrified me but I agreed anyway. When he picked me up, he was very gentle in putting the helmet on me and telling me to hold on to him tight. I thought it was a great excuse to get that close to him on a first date without coming across as easy lol

The ride was oh so much fun. It was late evening. Night weather was beautiful, not too cold, not too warm. He drove us to the beach and we talked for hours by the pier right above the water. We had a late dinner @ a restaurant on the pier, and yes, he took care of the bill. Then we walked and talked around some more before riding back home. All in 6 hours. We got along really well, just like old friends. Great flowing conversation. All we did the whole time was talk nonstop.

It was the funnest, nicest first date I've ever had (except for the helmet hair - I could have definately done without that!). It was very well planned out. I must say I was impressed, which doesn't happen often. It was as if the whole night was all about me, which any lady knows that's the way to go on a first date lol Seriously, I felt like I was in a movie, like it was a date right out of a chick flick and I don't even like chick flicks!

Made it home by 1am. I follow a personal rule that I don't kiss on a first date. But how could I not break it this time?

Who else has a great first date to share here? I know y'all been out since the last post in 2006!

This was prior to our first date, but still the best thing ever:

I met my b/f through a friend I used to work with. We met about a month before my birthday. About a week before my birthday (my birthday happened to fall on a Friday) I had told him my friends and I were planning to go to City Limits, a club in Raleigh, for my birthday. He told me that he had some friends coming into town the night of my birthday that he hadn't seen in a really long time. I told him it was cool and to spend the night with his friends, spring break was that following week, maybe we could get together then.

The night of my birthday, my friends and I are at City Limits and I start receiving these text messages from him asking me if I was there at the club, if I was having fun, what my plans were afterwards, etc. I had replied to him that I didn't know what plans were for afterwards. So...my friend who I met him through, she had driven us and we went out on the patio so she could make a phone call. We were out there 2 seconds...and she starts yelling his name and waving. I said to her "Why are you yelling his name? He's with his friends that are in town" and she replied, "no, he's here!" So I walked inside and there he was paying his cover to come in! I was sooooo surprised! NO ONE had ever done anything like this for me before! Best birthday present ever!

I didn't feel my phone vibrate for the last text message he sent me...when I replied to him asking where he was, his response: I'm at this place called City Limits.

Our first date was a few days later...we went to an Indian restaurant. I had never had Indian food before, but it was very relaxed (especially since we'd already been meeting up on campus and talking online for a month before hand).

Here we are today...a year and a half later still together <3

I just realized that all 3 of my "first dates" have been to see a movie (twice at the theater, once at my place). How unoriginal! I went on something like a go-see with a guy (I refuse to call it a date) where we roadtripped to a theme park. If he hadn't been such a punk, it would've been the perfect date. There was nothing to do but talk the entire way there, back, and waiting in line for rides. That's the best kind.

My favorite date has got to be one to Dave & Buster's. I had a blast! We played several games where we were a team and that helped. We even kissed in the parking lot at the end...I blushed the entire way home. It was our last date because he got really clingy after that (in a pathetic sort of way) but it was awesome, I'll give him that!

My best friend and I always went for pizza at one particular restaurant by her house and chatted with the owner’s son who worked behind the counter. One day, he wanted to take me out for some coffee. He asked if I liked cheesecake. I said, “Of course. I love cheesecake!”

Excited, he picked me up at my house in his Mustang (I’m a sucker for muscle cars) and we drove off. We had great conversation in the car and he smelled so nice. We kept driving and I finally realized that we were headed into the city.

Can you believe he drove all the way to Little Italy to get cheesecake, cannoli, and cappuccino with me? We sat inside a café chatting and having pastries. And although I didn’t end up happily-ever-after with this boy, it was still a sweet first date!

My best date (that never happened):

I'm a huge Sabres fan, and my boyfriend was (is) a huge Penguins fan. We met at Pitt and had been dating for about 6 months when he started dropping hints about hockey. Well, I found out (later) that he had bought Pens/Sabres tickets so we could watch a game together. I couldn't go to the first game, so he traded in to get tickets to the next game. I couldn't make it to that - so he gave up because there were no more Pens/Sabres games in Pittsburgh that season.

He didn't tell me any of this for months after because he was worried that I would be even more upset about life if I knew what we missed, especially because the second game was during the time when my family was going through some really tough times as far as my mother's illness so there was no way I was even going to appreciate going that day anyway.

He's still a sweetie for going through the trouble to harassing one of his friends with season tickets into letting him buy, then give back, not one but two sets of tickets for Pens games.

I've had some pretty good ones. The best one I had though was at a cider mill, because I wasn't expecting that. I dunno, it was just so different from the previous dates I had. What made it so much fun was that you would pick your own apples from the apple trees, and then bring them back to the cider mill where they would show you how to make apple cider. Great 1st actual date. I had a blast!

The most extravagant first date I've been on was a weekend trip to Hawaii to see and meet U2. It was so much fun. The boy and I are still dating (2 years later).

dinner at Carrabba's, then a leisurely drive around downtown Richmond, where we witnessed a car accident lol! then we went to his house, watched a James Bond movie, and he walked me across the street to my house...(yeah, he moved in across the street...what are the odds?) then he sat on the front porch of his house and talked to me on the phone til 4am...6 years later, we are still together!
