sad time
i posted earlier to a thread about the death of a pet about my cat who at that point was fine.
i had to put my 20 year old cat to sleep thursday. she looked funny when i got home from work and when i took her to the vet they said basically she was dying with a laundry list of ailments. i had had the cat since she was six weeks old. i am so sad. call it a cat person thing, but if you could have seen her eyes. she was still eating, drinking et al and it all just happened.
thanks for listening. i know i am a woos (spelling?). but i just want to cry.

Hi hun,
I'm really sorry. She must have been really special to you---I am a cat person myself. Just know that she is not suffering anymore and is in a much better place. I have had an older housecat since she was a small kitten and I cannot imagine losing her, but I know the time will come. I know this may sound cheesy, but she is like a sister (relative) and my company.
I'm sorry, and *hugs*....
Let us know how you are doing

I'm so sorry about your kitty You are NOT a woos! You lost your friend and companion of 20 years, and you have the right to grieve. Just take solance that you had many wonderful years together and she was no doubt very happy to have you as "her person". And when the time came, you had the courage and compassion to let her go on to a place where she will never again know suffering. You were looking out for her best interests to the very end; and were always a good friend to her. And I have no doubt that she knew that. God Bless, sweetie.

mmcat, I am so very saddened to hear this news. I wasn't aware your cat was ill. I lost my dog years back and still miss her. (Pookie) I actually would wake up and think she was there by the bed... I am so, so very sorry. I will think of you and the loss that you feel. I will pray the emptiness in your heart will soon be filled with joy. Sorry mmcat...

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. I have had to put pets to sleep before and it is always hard.....my one doggie wasn't even able to stand or walk anymore, my dad was trying to feed him cooked liver by hand, and it was still hard. A lot of people don't understand how much it hurts to lose a pet, because it's "just" an animal......but a pet is a part of the family. You have to grieve like you would for anyone. Just know that you spared your kit from suffering......

MMCAT,
Let me say that I am so very sorry for the loss of your feline companion. I have 5 of my own and they are my children. I would do anything and everything for them. I too have lost pets in the past -they were my family so I know what you are going through. It is very hard sometimes to do my job b/c I see this on a daily basis-it never gets easy. Please, if you need to talk we are here for you or you can PM me.

I am so sorry for your loss - I do not have a cat myself, but I do have a dog...and it is very normal for you to grieve with such a huge loss. this cat was a beloved friend and companion for 20 years - and you should be so proud of the love, attention, and care you provided her - you made her life so worthwhile. I dont know your living situation, but if you live somewhere that you can plant things...it helps to have some sort of memorial - a place where you can remember her. when i had to say goodbye to a childhood dog, i planted some flowers in a small flower bed - and every year they grow back and i can think of her and remember her all the good times we had. i know that might sound kind of weird, but it provided some comfort.

I'm so sorry for your loss! Pets are like family and we always try our hardest to do everything to make them happy! So now you should probably rest and know that your cat is in a better place far from pain!

I'm so sorry!
I've been in your shoes and it is rough. A year ago in January, my cat Mr. Squiggins (affectionately called Squiggy) died, and I haven't been able to bring myself to keep another cat since. He was only six months old, but my mom and I decided to take him to the vet to be declawed and fixed because that was the only way my dad (who's a self-proclaimed cat-hater) would let us keep him. Well...we got a call from the vet saying that the surgery went fine, but Squiggy just never woke up after being put to sleep for the procedure. My mom, my sister, and I all cried for days because we'd raised him since he was a frail little kitten abandoned by his mother, and he was like a member of the family. We have a dog now and she's lovely, but I still can't look at a picture of Squiggy without getting misty-eyed. Some people might think I'm a nut, but it's hard to understand without being in that position and I just want to wish you luck and tell you that things will get better.

i'm sorry to hear about your sweet little kitty!
i've had to put 2 cats to sleep and, while it was so hard at the time, i knew they were suffering and shouldn't have to live like that.
you've had so many happy memories together and those can never be replaced!
