People who think it's cool to stink
Is it just me (or my area), are people getting stinkier? Especially young people.
I don't remember smelling BO from other people that much when I was little.
It's usually the hipster types or the athletic types. Some random explanations that I heard:
*"Anti-perpirant could give me cancer!"
*"It is natural and HUMAN to have a scent"
*"I like to use environmental friendly deoderant, but they aren't as strong as the mainstream types."
*"I don't have time to shower after I work out"
*"I don't sweat a lot. I can go a week without bathing, I don't notice any odor"
Don't get me started on how many people (especially on the internet) think it is normal to have a smelly crotch. This is the main reason I am hesitant to give oral sex. I'm scared that I might remove the pants from someone and the smell of a dumpster outside of Long John Silvers will permeate my nostrils and the gentle fibers of sheets and curtains.

I would buy some Lysol Disinfected, Febreeze and some hand gel sanitizer and spray everything they touch around your area...
Sure, environmentally safe products are fine... However, funk invasions are created by opportunistic foul microorganisms and viruses and I am not interested in the infestation. Moreover, I might get a UV irradiated light and make them cross a threshold.
Funky chunky monkey may not get sick, but they can dayum sho make me sick...
Ewwwl!

Alot of people can't smell their own BO, so alot of times they don't know they're stinky unless someone (nicely) tells them.

true....but if you shower...every day....and/or agfter working out or doing yard work or something else that makes you sweaty, this shouldnt be an issue. if you do all of the above, and you still stink, invest in some stronger soap. Or see a doctor.

I had a co-worker at one hospital who used crystals for all kinds of things. She claimed to have a crystal that you could wave under your arms and it worked like deodorant. She frequently bragged about it. Thing was, it didn't work and she ALWAYS reeked of BO. It was so gross!

I don't get how people cannot wear deodorant to the gym. There's a difference in smell between someone who is just sweaty and someone who doesn't use a little bit of "Secret" before their work out session. It's so gross. If they happen to be working out next to me, I have to leave the area because the smell makes me physically ill.
I do feel bad for the people who can't control how they smell. I know it's harder to control it when you have diabetes. My husband's college roommate had a really aggressive case of diabetes so he had this unique smell to him. It wasn't the I-don't-shower type smell but there was a slight odor to him.

I've had a few people insist to me that they less you shower, the less you need to --- that by not showering as often, they'd trained their bodies to get used to it and not produce as much stick. In fact, they had only trained their noses not to notice

Maybe it all started the year Matthew MacConahey (sp?) won the "Sexiest Man" label from People magazine. In his interview he said he doesn't wear deo. and that his scent is "manly" and he doesn't bathe every day. Just like the whole "hairless chest" trend, guys always imitate the movie stars. I see a lot of photos of Matthew in the ocean so I hope that is somewhat "cleaning" him. Don't get me started on what flying is like up in the airplanes with people like this. barf!

hahahaha, we were just talking about this the other day. I think MMC thinks ocean = bath. At least he would be properly exfoliated!!
I know some hippie types that do this. I want to chase after them w/ a bottle of Drakkar.

Do do that, then it's Drakkar + stink! (kind of like room deoderizer and wet dog- you still smell the wet dog, only now with some roses mixed in).
I used to work with a lady that claimed she could only wash her hair once a week because of it's texture (she had red curly hair). Tuesday night was her hair washing night. On Wednesday, she had normal looking hair. By the next Monday, sure the texture was different- matted, dirty, greasy and smelly! I had horrible morning sickness with my first pregnancy, and sitting next to her in Monday morning meetings made me have to puke. literally.

LMAO!! This is so funny yet so sad. I notice this frequently with quite a few of my patients and more recently a couple of co-workers but after the "personal hygiene" lecture from mgt. they've since fixed their smelliness. We have a couple of practitioners that have gone in to do pap's on women and have flat out told them they need to go home and shower first then come back to get their pap (people coming in for their yearly not because they had a problem). IT's GROSS!!!

I'm confused. Is it better or worse to use deodorant to the gym? I would guess better but I'm a little confused by your post.
(and then)

Gross!!! Phtttptth!!! Pseudomonads, Serritia, and Staphylococcos stank!!! No matter how you say the aroma is more humanely. Put some dayum bleach on it! Maybe that's what the kids in Florida are saying about bleach drinking...
