Chute find rekindles D.B. Cooper legend
By JOSEPH B. FRAZIER, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 51 minutes ago
AMBOY, Wash. - A tattered, half-buried parachute unearthed by kids had D.B. Cooper country chattering Wednesday over the fate of the skyjacker, who leapt from a plane 36 years ago and into the lore of the Pacific Northwest.

The Legend of D.B. Cooper was always one of my favorite re-enactments on Unsolved Mysteries.
It would be really cool if they're one step closer to finding out what happened to him.

That's the lore that "Without a Paddle" was about, yes? I hadn't heard the legend before that movie. That's a crazy movie... "My mind's telling me no, but my body, my body is telling me yes!" (I guess you'd have to see it. )

I was in grade school when this hijacking occured and was so taken in by it. It's amazing how he knew at what altitude and at what speed to have the pilots fly. He also knew how to open the rear stairs in mid-air (which you can no longer do).
But, I'm tired of this cliff hanger. Who is this guy? Inquiring minds want to know.

Do you all remember the show News Radio? Phil Hartman was on it along with a lot of other funny people.
Anyway, they had a episode in which they suggesting one of the characters from the show was DB Cooper. I think it was the first time I really paid much attention to the story.

I've always thought this story was so cool. I kinda hope it remains a mystery...just knowing that he may have made it to the ground alive after all makes it even more wild.

An update for those interested:
SEATTLE - A tangled, torn parachute found buried last month last month is not the one used by plane hijacker D.B. Cooper when he bailed out of a plane over the Pacific Northwest, the FBI said Tuesday. Investigators reached that conclusion after speaking with parachute experts, including Earl Cossey, who packed the chutes provided to Cooper that rainy November night in 1971.
