badge placement question

I was looking at the official badge/jewelry cataloge I received from HJGreek yesterday, and a portion of it, (the "How to Wear Your Phi Mu Badge) section raised an interesting question -

"The Phi Mu badge is worn on the left side of the chest over your heart. Traditionally other pins or guards are not worn above or at the same level as the badge."

I understand that, but - I am a member of two other GLOs, and neither of our badges are ever to be worn below another badge, so I generally wear them all on the same level, because I treat all of my organizations with equal reverence. But as per Phi Mu badge regulations, I'm not supposed to do that? What do I do?

Also, a brief question on pin attire: As the trend these days are to wear leggings as pants, a lot of girls in the house do it per their pin attire, but there's some disagreement in the house as to if this counts or not. What's the official word? (I say no because personally, I think it looks really bad.)

Where only the badge that is appropriate for that function...in other words, don't wear them all at once.

Pin attire would be something that would be appropriate to wear to church or to a job interview. Leggings are not really appropriate for either.

Technically, it does only say TRADITIONALLY... it doesn't say what you should do in an untraditional situation. So there's your loophole.

But if you were going to something like convention or State Day you'll only need your Phi Mu badge anyways. The problem probably mostly arises when attending campus events.

I know that other women on my campus wear their other "Greek" badges below their sorority badge because if it wasn't for their sorority they wouldn't be in the others anyway. So that is personally what I would do (although I ALWAYS forget to wear all my badges when going to anything ...)

As far as the tights/leggings are concerned, I know that some women would wear them to church and some would not. I don't think I would. My chapter simply states a dress code for their meaning of "business attire": dresses and skirts must stop no shorter than reasonably above the the knee and require stockings, no capri pants, full pants only, tops may not be spaghetti straps or clubbing attire (ex. "three finger" rule), no excessive cleavage, etc. This totally avoids the "tights" situation. (BTW-I love tights, I wear them at least 3 times a week but mostly at home).

I only wear "tights" (opaque stocking style leg covering). I have very a pale complexion and nude stockings just look so stupid on me. I would avoid "leggings" but tights with the appropriate dress would be just fine. (and with "tights" I don't have to worry if my legs are getting close to waxing time again *wink*).

I can't think of any occasion where I'd be mixing and matching all my different pins (being a member of three GLOs myself). Seems kind of tacky to me to be wearing two or three pins at once... but that's just my view.

Oh-I only put tights/leggings because here the words are interchangable. I know in some places (and with dancers) tights usually refers to a total leg covering similar to a stocking but thicker.

Note to MH*E-it IS tacky. It looks like you're trying to show off. Thankfully for me, I always forget to wear any badge anywhere!
