MOH question for all you married folk
I haven't been able to find this and, with all the wedding planning, I figured someone here would know--can you have a maid of honor AND a matron of honor?

Yes. You can have whatever you want. You could even have two maids of honor, if you want. I honestly don't think anyone would think it was that weird, and you're cetainly doing nothing wrong. My wedding party consisted of one man and four women.
Congratulations, btw!

Ditto, It's your day and you can do what you want. They would both stand with you, in places of honor with your other brides maids.
Congratulations!

Co-sign. When Mr Sageofages and I were married we had a "Best Person" and a "Person of Honor". Can you figure that one out? Yup...Best Person = female and Person of Honor = male . Our very close friends .
We would have had them standing next to each of us on our chosen sides during the ceremony, but my mother popped a cork during rehearsal about how inappropriate it was. So boys on one side and girls on the other...instead of the boy-girl-boy-girl it would have looked like.
Mr Sageofages said that was her one favor for our marriage...of course is has really been the first of many . He is so nice to my *cough* difficult at times *cough* mother.

Yeah, we split up the girls and had two women on my side, and then put the man and another two women on Mr. sherbertlemons' side.
I was actually surprised about how cool my family was with it.

Hahaha, guys, I meant all the wedding planning going on in the thread! I'm not getting married, I was just wondering. But thanks for the congrats, I felt really special, lol.
I was asking because, whenever I do get married, I'd like for my cousin to be my MOH, but my mom would go into convulsions if I didn't choose my sister. I was the MOH at her wedding and she is my sister, but my cousin and I are closer. So I was wondering if there was a way I could have them both: my sister as my matron and my cousin as my maid. Mind you, I'm still very much single, so this is all hypothetical.

I figured as much because I was like "did I miss her engagement announcement?"

I had both. It's a special day so you get to call the shots.

Sure, you are absolutely allowed to have both a Maid and a Matron! It's your day, you do what you want.

I had two maids of honor, since I didn't want to choose between my two sisters.

Do one in Las Vegas with a Black Elvis and Motown Singers at the Drive Thru Chapel of Happiness, and I'll be there...

My husband is in a wedding next month where there is a maid and matron of honor. The bride chose her sister and a dear friend for the two rolls. 5 other bridesmaids too!

I had 2 maids of honor-both were girls I had been best friends with for over a decade and how in the hell would I choose between the 2?? And like everyone else said, I figured it was my wedding and I could do whatever I wanted!!
When my friend got married, she actually had my husband stand on her side as like, her "bridesman"-they had been friends since freshman year of college and were so close. No one thought anything of it at all. I was actually a bridesmaid at that one too!

I did! I had my best friend at the maid of honor and my sister in law who helped a ton with the wedding as the Matron of honor.
