Marine Corp Silent Drill!
WOW...The Rockettes don't have anything on these guys!!
...Here's a link to the performance of the US Marine Drill Team at a recent Denver Nuggets Basketball game. It almost makes your hair stand on end.
For those of you/us who have spent some time in the Military ... this Platoon performance makes you almost want to cry . knowing the discipline and practice time it takes to execute a military drill with arms routine flawlessly.

I love Marines.
That was a tight drill. And I found it sexy.
It also reminded me of the military roots of many GLO practices.

I had the pleasure of seeing the USMC Silent Drill team when I went to DC with my uncle (who was in the US Navy for 25 years) when I finished 8th grade. I remember it well and was darned impressed. I do have to say, the Marines look great in their dress uniform.
Semper Fi! (my dad was a Marine during the Vietnam war)

I love the new Marine commercial with the Marine Corps drill team in different places around the country (Golden Gate Bridge, in the middle of some plains, at the Grand Canyon, etc). Amazing. And sexy. I don't know if that's playing in the states or if it's just an AFN spot, but it's great.

I admire any group that does synchronization. I'm so klutzy, I fall over myself.

I've seen the Marine Corp Silent Drill team many times at Navy football game halftime performances and they're absolutely incredible. There aren't many halftime acts that can bring total silence to a 35,000 seat stadium but when they perform you could hear a pin drop.

Words are inadaquate for that video! And yes, they are incredibly sexy!
Does anyone know if they use real rifles, or the show rifles? Precision/drill teams have always fascinated me!

Real, but old.
WWII vintage.
Be tough to do that with any of the permutations of the M-16, I think.

On must read W E B Griffuns Book, "Hostage" to read a bit about a new ring knocker from the old guard not having ammo for the weapons in case of an emergency!

When I worked for the Navy up in DC our building was next to the Navy's Ceremonial Guard building. Watching them practice was fun and when the would perform it would be amazing to watch them with everything in sync and just right.
