Girl Scout Cookies
I know there was a thread about the similarities of GSA and sororities, but someone mentioned Girl Scout Cookies in another thread and I thought I'd bring this up.
What's you favorite Girl Scout Cookie?
My little was is GSA through high school, and now that she teaches elementary school art, she and one of the student's mothers have started a troop. So last Wed. I get a call at work "So, did you want to buy some Girl Scout Cookies? 'Cause I have to turn the form in today." I was like "Thank god you called, I would have been ticked if I hadn't gotten any girl scout cookies!" I got 3 kinds: Somas, Tag Alongs & Thin Mints.
To answer my question, Somaos are my favorite, but Tag Alongs a close second!
Does anyone know where they come up with the names of the cookies? My little showed me the "new" cookie, called "Ole Ole", which has macadamia nuts or something in it and powdered sugar coating. (I wouldn't have named it Ole Ole myself). And I've always wondered why tag alongs got that name?
I do know that the names, and even the available types of cookies, vary by region (so one of you might read this and say to yourself, what the heck's a Somao?). Just an interesting fact. And I feel sorry for any of you who don't know the joy of girl scout somao cookies!

They're called Samoas! I don't know if it's because there's coconut in them or because they taste like our favorite Girl Scout dessert, S'mores!!!

My troop was selling Scout cookies in front of Walmart a couple of years ago and this woman walked up, bought a box of Samoas, sat down, and--I swear--ate every cookie in the box. She said, "I deserved that," and walked off.

Okay...that's kinda sick carnation...that lady must have some serious issues with food.
I love GS cookies. I cannot wait to buy some in front of the grocery store as soon as they are out there, because no girls came to my house this year.

Oooh, is it getting to be that time???
My favorite is by far the Tagalongs and I'm not ashamed to say that I hide them because my husband and kids couldn't POSSIBLY appreciate them as much as I do!

we still have an UNOPENED box of samoas sitting in our pantry from last year!!! my mom LOVES those, i just dont know why she never opened them.
I have a couple of favorite GS cookies but i dont know their names. Which are the tagalongs? Until a couple of years ago i always thought the shortbread cookies were the most boring and tasteless ones of all, until i actually tried them they are soo yummy, so i like those, and there are others that i cant think of right now.

I love all of them~ lol!
But if I had to pick, I'd choose Thin Mints and Carmel Delights tied. I have always loved the Thin Mints because they are so refreshing. I especially like to crumble them onto a bowl of vanilla ice cream!
I love the Carmel Delights too because they're just sinful! My mom never let us touch them and then one day I did and I found out why!
SO GOOD!

I've always wondered how they got the names for the cookies... I mean, SAMOAS??
I remember selling GS cookies when I was little...the trick is to set up shop near an ATM... ppl who have just withdrawn money from their bank feel guilty about not buying...so they buy!
What sucks is that now I'm one of those ppl that get suckered into buying them. My freezer's stocked up with Thin Mints now.
