They made some changes to the story (of course) which i think actually made the story more believeable.

Has anyone heard the music yet ?? Because I just can't get OHMIGOD OHMIGOD YOUGUYS out of my head.
I have a friend in the show, so I have a bunch of the songs now and I love that one.

The musical adaptation of Legally Blonde will be broadcast on MTV.

The network plans to air a performance of the show in October.

I heard it was actually really good AND it was nominated for some Tony's, so I'll be watching.

I am not in the target audience age range, but can I just say how excited I am to hear this news? I bought the soundtrack, and have been driving my fiancee up a wall listening to it! Yeah!

It's this Saturday at 1 p.m. on MTV. It's the first a show that's currently on Broadway is coming to TV. How neat.

So, I watched it, and I'm still mixed on it. I know musicals are cheesy, but this was WAAAAAY over the top for me. Plus, if you've never seen the movie (yes, I realize that probably includes about 2 people in America), it wouldn't make much sense. My power surged in the middle of Elle singing to Warner after he proposes at the end, and it made me mad, because that was actually shaping up to be a pretty redeeming song.

I bet Luke Wilson was cringing at how Emmet was portrayed!

I think my biggest problem was the casting. Every main character, I kept thinking that we've seen it before. The girl who played Elle reminded me of Kristin Chenoweth, the one that played Paulette reminded me of Carol Channing, the one who played Vivian reminded me of Megan Mulalaly (Karen on Will and Grace), and the one who played Emmet reminded me of Anthony Rapp.

Oh, and for GC - I saw a girl in the audience toward the end in a pink & purple Tri Sigma shirt.

I actually liked it. I bought the soundtrack (someone on here was talking about it) in July, and knew I would probably never get to NYC to see it. I wish there was more oppurtunities like this to watch the Broadway shows. Right now, I watch the traveling shows that come to Norfolk, the Tonys and Macy's Day parade to get my Broadway fix.

I DVR'd it yesterday and just watched it and loved it. I think it was different enough from the movie to make it seem like a new experience too. I'll even go so far as to say that I think if they made a movie of the musical version it would do very well. I mean, if you're looking to hate it from the start, you probably will, but I think it was done very well.

AlphaFrog -- I saw the Tri-Sigma shirt girl as well.

Oh, I forgot to say yesterday that I loved the "Greek" chorus.

I think if I saw it again, it would grow on me. The only thing I won't get over is the "Gay or European" song. It was dumb, and it felt too much like "hey, we haven't had a song in a little while, let's sing!". I have a feeling that later on down the road, if this show gets performed non-equity, that song will be cut. It doesn't advance the plot, it doesn't flesh out a character, it's really nothing but silliness. Much like "Who's Got the Pain" in Damn Yankees. I DID like that she exposed him as gay because the "bend & snap" didn't work.

As much as I love Legally Blonde, I have been trying to watch the musical on MTV. I love the fact that The Hills ladies are hosting the show.

But I don't like the lead who is playing Elle(sp). I need to watch it more to see if she grows on me.

I loved "Gay or European" it did nothing for the plot, but neither did many of the other songs (what was up with the Riverdance sequence...?) But the way it was done was hilarious and the way it incorporated everyone and the choreography was great. And the gay lover was super cute with his little fussy bit. I think it was just a way to put some humor into the play because it had become very serious at that part.

I think that the women from "The Hills" added nothing to the broadcast. Lauren was tolerable, but Audrina and Whitney were out of their element.

I think the "Gay or European" was important to the plot of the movie/musical. But that is just me.

i love laura bundy (elle)....she's a suuuuper nice person. met her years ago through my sister, and she would get her hair done where i used to work. just really nice and "normal".....i watched a bit of this the other day and it looked cute, but was semi-fighting with the hubs, so didn't get into it that much.

The fact that he was gay was important to the musical...the song about it was not.

Here are the lyrics:

There! Right There!
Look at that tan, that tinted skin.
Look at the killer shape he's in.
Look at that slightly stubly chin.
Oh Please he's gay, totally gay.

Calahan:
I'm not about to celebrate.
Every trait could indicate the totally straight expotriate.
This guy's not gay, i say not gay.

All:
That is the elephant in the room.
Well is it relevant to assume
that a man who wears perfume
is automatically matically fay?

Emmett:
But look at his quoft and crispy locks.

Elle:
Look at his silk translucent socks.

Calahan:
There's the eternal paradox.
Look what we're seeing.

Elle:
What are we seeing?

Calahan:
Is he gay?

Elle:
Of course he's gay.

Calahan:
Or European?

All:
ohhhhhh.
Gay or European?
It's hard to guarantee
Is he gay or european?

Warner:
Well, hey don't look at me.

Vivian:
You see they bring their boys up different in those charming foreign ports.
They play peculiar sports.

All:
In shiny shirts and tiny shorts.
Gay or foreign fella?
The answer could take weeks.
They will say things like "ciao bella"
while they kiss you on both cheeks.

Elle:
Oh please.

All:
Gay or European?
So many shades of gray.

Warner:
Depending on the time of day, the French go either way.

All:
Is he gay or European?
or

Eden:
There! Right There!
Look at that condescending smirk.
Seen it on every guy at work.
That is a metro-hetro jerk.
That guy's not gay, i say no way.

All:
That is the elephant in the room.
Well is it relevant to presume
that a hottie in that costume

Elle:
Is automatically-radically

Calahan:
ironically-cronically

Vivian:
scurtinly-curtainly

Warner:
genetically-netically

All:
GAY!
OFFICIALLY GAY!
OFFICIALLY GAY GAY GAY GAY
DAMMIT

Gay or European?

Calahan:
So stylish and relaxed.

All:
Is he gay or European?

Calahan:
I think his chest is waxed.

Vivian:
But they bring their boys up different there.
It's culturally diverse.
It's not a fashion curse.

All:
If he wears a kilt or bears a purse.
Gay or just exotic?
I still can't crack the code.

Brooke:
Yet his accent is hypnotic
but his shoes are pointy toed.

All:
Huh.
Gay or European?
So many shades of gray.

Judge:
But if he turns out straight I'm free at 8 on saturday.

All:
Is he gay or European?
gay or european?
Gay or Euro-

Emmett:
Wait a minute!
Give me a chance to crack this guy.
I have an idea I'd like to try.

Calahan:
The floor is yours.

Emmett:
So Mr. Argitacos...
This alleged affair with Ms. Windam has been going on for...?

Ricos:
2 years.

Emmett:
And your first name again is...?

Nicos:
Nicos.

Emmett:
And your boyfriend's name is...?

Nicos:
Carlos.
I'm sorry! I misunderstand. You say boyfriend.
I thought you say best friend. Carlos is my best friend.

Carlos:
You bastard!
You lying bastard!
That's it.
I no cover for you, no more!
Peoples.
I have a big announcement.
This man is Gay and European!
you've got to stop your being
a completely closet case.
No matter what he say.
I sware he never ever ever swing the other way.
You are so gay.
You big parfait!
You flaming boy in cabaret.

Nicos:
I'm straight!

Carlos:
You were not yesterday.
So if I may, I'm proud to say,
He's gay!

All:
And European!

Carlos:
He's gay!

All:
And European!

Carlos:
He's gay!

All:
And European and Gay!

Nicos:
Fine okay I'm gay!

All:
Hooray!

Nicos and Carlos:
Fine. Okay. We're gay!

The only lyrics that really matter to the story are in purple. And that could have been easily taken care of with dialogue. The rest of it is all just a cheap shot at the French that's just about as funny as the "Why did the chicken cross the road" joke.

They're horrible hosts but I absolutely love them. It distracted me from the lackluster parts of the musical.
