Texas rush snuck up on me

Howdy y'all. I literally discovered this helpful (and wonderful) website 3 hours ago because of my lack of knowledge on what I've gotten myself into. Don't get me wrong, I'm so excited to rush this week. I can't wait to meet new people and learn about all of the sororities here at my Texas school but I'm not going to lie- I'm getting a bit nervous. I mean, I'm a double legacy, I'm confident in who I am, I'm not shy, I have a good looking resume...but...I'm a junior. I've seen that many girls have issues with rushing as a junior and I'm curious if anyone knows about the Texas schools in particular. Also- some advice would be fabulous. Seeing as convocation is Sunday, I know I'm asking last minute. Still, if you have a topic you know I should bring up with the actives or something like that, I would greatly appreciate your help. I can only pick my mom's brain so many times and she only remembers so much! haha. I know this won't be a cake walk. I'm not expecting that. I guess I just need some encouragement! (I want to post my recruitment story this week too, but I saw the list of "DON'TS" and was a bit discouraged from doing so!)

Thanks again!!

Also- I wanted to mention that I have recs for every sorority, many letters, and a good GPA here at school as well as from where I transferred... Someone told me initial cuts for upperclassmen is because of grades and lack of recs so at least no worries there!

Be sure you tell the girl rushing you how many years you have left at your school! The longer, the better. They will be able to get more service out of you! Definitely mention the activities you have participated in!! This will let the girls know that you are dedicated to leadership and the community. Most importantly, maximize your options. I'm sure you've already read about ignoring tent talk and how exactly you can work with what you're given. Listen to your heart and let that be your guide through recruitment.

Great news on already securing solid recs and congrats on a good GPA.

GOOD LUCK!!

depending on the school you are attending in texas, there may be "free" juniors-meaning that each chapter would be allowed a very small number of juniors to extend a bid to, and those 2 or 3 junior new members would not figure into the regular quota.

somewhere texas u. has set quota at 50 pnms. they have decided that each chapter can take 2 free juniors, so the chapters could end up with a new member class of 52.
