Exactly. What is a METROPOLITAN PARKWAY?! It is Stewart Avenue, the exit right before Sylvan Avenue. SWATS!

This one may not last. This show needs work because the actors are still acting for the stage. They are not acting for tv. And I was disappointed that the wife's "problem" was crack (come on Tyler, not again). I was kind of hoping that she had a shopping or gambling problem. Those are real problems too that break up families.
I'm sick of the obsession with this city period. Wasn't born there but spent every summer of my childhood there. Bankhead? the Omni? don't I remember

I agree, it seems to me like they are looking out at the audience sometimes waiting for someone to say, "I know that's right!" or "Well!"
Personally, I think it's too soon to be presenting folks with the "crack head" story line. As one person mentioned on here, is this going to be comedy or drama??? Give us a chance to get to know the characters and give them a little more identity other than the plays since he doesn't seem to be introducing more characters. It's nice to know that even Tyler Perry watched the Barbara Walters interwiew with Whitney Houston, but he should come up with some originality because we all know that "crack is wack" and the average "crack head" probably will not be able to produce a receipt thanking the customer for their most recent purchase from a man named "Blue".
The show really does seem to have a lot of potential, but there are some gaps. I would have thought that a movie would be harder to create than a sitcom, but it seems his movies are much better. Perhaps, he should stick with the silver screen.
Bye, love yawl!

I finally watched the show and I agree that something is missing in the acting? It does flow more like a play and lacks the natural flow and timing of a tv show.

i finally watched and i think the problem is poor directing. the actors timing is off, and thats something that can be taken care of with proper stage direction and editing (its not a live show, right?).
i didnt really laugh because addiction and abandonment arent really funny to me. but i can see how this show will be successful if it is just given some time to develop. It kind of reminds me of a mix between Family Matters (cheesy) and Roc (contemporary story lines).

I agree with you on this one. They also need a live audience because it seems so dry. Tyler really needs to venture out on other problems that can be stressfull on a family other than somebody cheating or being on drugs. I don't know I about this show; I still hope that it does well and proves me wrong but I really don't see it lasting. Hopefully my opinion will change as it grows.

I agree with many comments in this thread! I definitely think that the characters are over-acting, the lines are a bit corny, it seems like they are trying to force laughter, they continue to over-act like they are on stage and he needs to realize that that theatre and TV are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things. The quality of the show is poor, the actors mess up, there are awkward pauses and silence, and the list could go on and on. I feel bad for Tyler, I love his movies but this is not getting it. However, there are a lot of supporters on his website that absolutely love the show...who knows?
Anyway the one and only time that i did laugh was when the father broke out in that prayer....HAHAHAHA

I liked the next 2, but they needed to be a part 1 and 2. Tyler can't keep ending the episodes with unfinished business if they aren't connected. The last one was the only one that ended decently for me. And I saw the crack from a mile away, I figured out something of that nature was wrong from the first episode when Janine was acting funny. It's starting to change and be a bit more like a sitcom to me. Heading in the right direction;now, we just need some momentum.

I remembered it came on tonight. It's still being over-acted as if it's on stage. I'm still a little iffy about it in the first fifteen minutes. I think Curtis' character needs to be toned down a bit. He's just plain old mean and becoming irritating.
This anger "facilitator" is pretty funny though.

I am still having a hard time focusing on this show. However, I'm not going to give up just yet.

Allen Payne should just walk around shirtless (sans taco chest hair, of course). I sincerely believe this will bring greater depth to the show.
Seriouly, I'm not sure if the problem could be solved with better writing. Allen Payne is not a good actor. He was better as "Lance" on the Cosby Show and that was how many years ago? His range hasn't improved since then? I also believe the person playing the college-aged son should be removed. Horrible.
Maybe they should bring in Debbie Allen. She's a competent director and has a track record for saving a sinking sitcom ship (e.g. A Diff'rent World).
