Few quick things.
1) Can't find You On A Diet at the library. I wanted to listen to it on CD while I walked. I may have to actually purchase this. OR I could pull a Starang and read it at B&N (I have never forgotten about that, lol).
2) Gonna complete a marathon next year. See blog link in siggie.
3) Once I start my marathon training, I'm going to pay to join www.fitnessjournal.org. It seems worth the money; just enough bells and whistles for my tastes.
4) Going to get pics put on disc today. Will start weigh-loss Fotki today. Stay tuned...
5) Soror Camii, can you teach me about this tomato/cilantro sauce?
6) Delph, it IS a hard journey, but we can do it!!!

Soror Ideal
I use a can of the Rotel Milder Diced Tomato and Green Chillies. I mistakenly said cilantro, but i think it is pretty tasty when I mix it in with the brown rice, chicken, and then add steamed broccoli or spinach!!
And I am feeling you on walking a marathon. A year and a half ago in celebration of turning 30, I walked a half marathon!! I was reaaallly psyched about it.
Let me know when/where you plan on walking the marathon. Maybe we can train together (yet apart) and meet up for the marathon!!!

Wow- its been a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've been here and I come back to see Soror Ideal is going to complete a marathon-- yaya- you go Soror!
I am currently training with Team in Training (I saw your reference in your MV blog) to complete the Capital of Texas Triathlon on May, 28. Training is tough, but fun. I am getting toned all over, but I am having to VERY CAREFUL about what I eat b/c as you will find, when you train for an endurace event you are always hungry. So, I had to check myself and re-focus on correct portion size and correct carb/protein/fat ratios. Once re-focused I have lose 5 lbs in the past two weeks- just on paying attention to my food and sticking with my TNT triathlon training program.
Ideal, I highly suggest training with TNT for your marathon. The training program is great, you will meet wonderful people and have a blast, all while raising money for a great cause. If you'd like to hear more about LLS just pm me.
Also, I wanted to say wrt the marathon you don't have to just choose between running all out or walking all out. I am completing the run portion of the event by doing run/walk. This means I run 4 mins and walk 1- you can do any variation you like from a 4/1 split up to a 12/1 split and the TNT coaches will help you figure that out too.
You go!!!

Are the green chillies hot? Cuz I am a PUNK when it comes to all things spicy. But I need a new way to liven up chicken, brown rice, and broccoli; it's my favorite food combination.
I would LOVE to meet up for the marathon. I'll PM you details. So. Ex. cited!!!
Soror Exquisite, you have no idea how excited your post made me. Between you and Soror Camii, I was screamin' up in here. Literally. But to hear that you are training for a TRIATHLON!!! WOW!!!! I can't wait to hear about the experience!!! How long have you been training? I did read somewhere about always being hungry. It concerns me a bit, so I got some books that touch on nutrition for runners (this still makes me laugh, that I'll be a runner). I have SO much to learn that I'm trying not to get overwhelmed. But this is SO new to me that I'm eager to learn more, plus, I feel like I need to be prepared mentally before I start training. SO excited to "know" someone "personally" who's training with TNT. I'll be PMing you for sure.
 YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! I. Love. My. Sorors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fat Smash is for the birds.... LOL!
I am doing OK, but I have modified a little bit. I eat crackers with my veggie chili. That's about the only "cheating" that I do. I have a newfound love for tofu. It's good and it's filling. However, if I don't put in the crackers as my cheat items, I would probably pass out from lack of calories. I think that how you lose so much on Phase I. I put in the amounts of food that I ate today into my tracker on SparkPeople and I had to STRRRRRRRRRRRRRRETCH to get to 1000 calories! So even though I wasn't that hungry, I had to grab a bowl of Grape Nuts with sliced banana in order to get up to my lower limit of 1350. I would hate to get my body into starvation mode and cause my metabolism to go crazy on me. (Crazier than it already is!)
I'll let y'all know my progress after these 9 days are up!

Checking In ...
I was supposed to do this last week ... but I got to the meeting and had gained again! I was so disgusted I went out to Target and bought two bags of dark chocolate M&Ms on sale (haven't eaten any yet, LOL).
I spent the rest of the week preparing for our Finer Womanhood Luncheon, which was yesterday -- I have to admit that I ate practically every bite of my salad and entree (except the mashed potatoes), and my dessert (cheesecake) since the servers wouldn't wrap it.
Today I was down 3.8 lbs. I was hoping to lose another 0.4 to get my BMI under 30, but I'll worry about that next week!
A lot of people didn't even realize that I was who I was until I took the microphone yesterday -- I guess that was nice!
Ideal and Del, I'll have the photo scanned tomorrow!

Hey Soror!
I'm completing the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati next year. I don't know much about being outside in November, lol. The FPM is in May. I am going to also complete a half marathon this October in Columbus (as part of my training for the FPM).
After talking with Soror Exquisite, I think that TNT is a sealed deal. I'm going to the information session Wednesday. I'm excited.

Real quick...
1) at least it's dark chocolate!!
2) I need your metabolism!
3) You "guess" that was nice? You guess? That was GREAT!!!! (I know, it takes some getting used to, right?)
4) Looking forward to the pic! I started a weight-loss Fotki album. PM me if you want the link and the password.
Y'all, it's happening again. I gained about 20lbs since the last time I posted my weight. The 176.5 didn't last for long; soon after I was back at 182.5 (my body really likes that weight). EVERY TIME I reach a milestone, I binge. No self control. But I start walking to work tomorrow and I start training for the marathon on Sunday. But the scale is a very scary place for me right now (191.5 right now; it was 194 this morning). My size 12's still fit. But I was real depressed about the whole ordeal this morning. I'm ok now, but I'ma blog about it later. Time to burn some calories moving stuff into my new apartment. That I LOVE. I love it. Ok. Bye.

OK, not really on Fat Smash anymore, though I am still using some of the principles. Basically, it's the same thing I've been doing: small meals more often, lots of water, exercise, etc. The only thing I am trying to do is limit my meat intake. After these past few days, I have really learned to like tofu. Therefore, I am going to try to use that in place of meat as much as possible.
I am down to about 220, which is a 5 pound loss from last week. If I would have followed the plan to the letter, I may have lost more. However, I am cool with what I've lost. Hopefully I can stay the course and continue losing.

this was the milestone
I could FINALLY see my weight-loss. All doing a comparison pic for my hair album. And when I noticed it, I was ECSTATIC!!! I mean, I was so happy, I sent out an email to my friends. And then things just went awry. Anyway, here is the pic. This is the closest thing I have to before/after pics. My friend is supposed to be scanning my full-body before pics, but y'all know how black folk do.

Soror RD, congrats on the 5lb loss!!! The more I think about it, the more I think I need to give FS another try. My system could probably use it. Send me some tofu recipes. I'm gonna make some of that chili tomorrow.
Break time is over.

an alternative to tofu:
tofurkey sausages (I'd suggest the italian style ones). Even my decidedly non-veggie lil cousins will eat that, lol.
I made a stir-fry last week with those sausages, essgplant, orange and red peppers and portabello mushrooms. It was lovely! THe only luxury was the olive oil I cooked it with.
ETA: Just saw the bit about the marathon. Wow!!! YOU GO SOROR!
How long is the marathon? I ran my own mini-marathon in the gym this week just to see how far I could go- I ran/walked six miles! I Ever since I moved from AZ I have gotten really serious about working out and eating well again and I am dropping the weight I picked up there (yay). Thus far I have gone down a band size in the chest area, and I believe that my mid-section is slimming down. The booty hasn't gone down yet, but I have hope!
Not back to my old self yet, but at least I have it in sight. My new gym is gorgeous too, which is shallow, but helps, lol.
