If either one of my teen-aged sons (dam when did that happen )were a part of the Kappa League I would hope that it wouldn't allow them to have any special privileges or priority over anyone else.

You may not get many responses to this one Soror.

I'm trying to get my brother involved. Here they are really involved with the young men, and i think it is AWESOME for young boys to see polished professional men outside of their fathers/uncles and other family. Even when there is a strong male role model around it is nice to have someone outside of the family, a lot of times boys will open up more to non family members plus there are a lot of other boys around their age, so new POSITIVE friends to be made as well.

IMO, Kappa League members get no special consideration. Through Kappa League one can be under the positive influence of Kappa Men. I still think however that Kappa League or not one needs to do research to decide one if they want to be in a frat, and two if they do which one is the right one for them. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the Divine 9 frats, but you have to decide which one is right for you.

I've strayed from the topic. But no they shouldn't get special considertation. I can't speak for every brother though.

I agree with NUPE4LIFE

I agree with NUPE4LIFE!

I don't feel just because someone is involved in the Kappa League that they should get special treatment. I would hope that participating in the Kappa League, would give some insight into our great bond. But I think each individual should research an determine which organization fits them when they feel the time is right to make that decision.

Probate? Wow...

Well, I was in Kappa League in Birmingham, AL and I never wanted to be a Kappa. My advice to you man is take it for what its worth. A Community Service and Mentoring program. I know a lot of good Kappas that I learned a lot from. High School affiliation affords you no benefits in college. Remember that. Whether you choose Alpha, Kappa, Omega, Sigma, or even *shock* NOTHING in college it's still a lonely road to walk as a black man in America and a LOT of hard work ahead of you if you want to be a GOOD BLACK MAN.

Learn from your KL experience. I know I did and I'm a better man for it.

(BUT I'm STILL AN ALPHA!!!!! A-Phiiiiiii 00000006...sorry, I had to do it.)

HS 'frats' and 'sororities' (the term they used...don't jump on me) were of decent size when I was in HS in 02 in Birmingham, but never any probates.

Maybe different regions/chapters do different things. Possibly, the chapter in NC that sponsored KLer's chapter of KL wanted them to have a probate. However I don't think it should be called a frat, but a Mentorship program which is (I believe) what the chapters of KAPsi call KL and LKL (girls). Forgive me if I'm on wrong.

BTW did somebody call it a frat? Maybe it was in the other thread. *runs off to look.*

You know. I am having a real problem with these HS frats and sororities. Why? Because y'all are too young to be engaged in such foolishness and may be messing up your chances to be selected or invited to be a member of the Divine 9 (that's if your behind goes to college). I usually don't post long replies to threads so here goes.

At my high school, there was a high school step team sponsored by a woman that wanted to be an AKA and a DST. She thought it would be cute if she started her own little sorority at our school. They had jackets, a call, and even strolled at pep rallies. And yes, they had a Hell Night and hazed. Well, one girl that was on line my last year in high school was beaten to a pulp. Her mother stepped in and of course, the step team (i.e., sorority) was disbanded and the teacher was fired. Now do you think this stopped the teacher. No. She has now formed a new branch of this sorority at my university and is now calling it a "christian sorority." Most of the girls that participated in this mess. Well, let's just say only one is a member of a NPHC sorority but she had to go throught a lot to prove herself.

Advice: Be careful what you do in high school. It will come back to haunt you.

I'm sure T.A.D. filled you in on the history. Their website is a HOT AZZ MESS! That woman should be ashamed of herself.

To KL: It seems you neglected to read anything I wrote about things coming back to haunt you. In the words of Furious Styles, "You'll learn. Oh yeah, YOU GONNA LEARN!"

Touchy touchy! I wasn't refering to what you said but how. Like the fact that tnan=than and ncat=North Carolina A & T.

unspokenone25 ~ I don't think KLer was refering to you, I think he was talking about my statement to edit his post.

Anyway, very good warning from you. The organization you are refering to sounds IMO like a bunch of mess. You cannot be in a legitamate frat/sorority in HS point blank. GLOs, black or white, are collegiate and post collegiate organizations. Kappa Leauge, Archonettes, Delta Gems, Sigma Beta Club, and all organizations like them (as I have perceived) never claimed to be greeks. Just young men and women who have been selected to witness how amazing and benefical GLOs can be for the community.
