Survivor - Fiji

The new cast has been revealed. Let's discuss!

One of the contestants, Rita Verreos, is the older sister of Nick Verreos, who was on Project Runway 2.

Greeks in the cast: Erica is an AKA. Mookie is a Pike. Those are the only two with an affiliation listed.

Mmm...Edgardo.

Aside from Cook Islands, I haven't watched Survivior recently. Are there usually this many contestants?

I'm surprised they went along with filming on Fiji. The government's been in political turmoil for quite some time now. Absolutely beautiful place to visit (I think it's more beautiful there than where I'm at!), but really scary when the natives go batshit.

I so agree with you!
Survivor started off with 16 people, back in the "olden days". I think now, they're increasing the numbers (19), but then the "season" is still the same length of 39 days, because they do things like a double-elimination and stuff like that. By increasing the number, I guess it could be argued that it gets tougher to "win"..i.e. you have a 1 in 19 shot at it, rather than a 1 in 16 shot.

They were filming when the coup occurred and the militia that took over told them they'd leave them alone and make sure they were kept safe. I read something about it a month or two ago, probably on alt.tv.survivor

Why is this still on the air?????

I watched last season, after having only watched the first and bits of all the seasons, because I thought it was going to be controversial, and entertaining. Instead it was dull and uninteresting.

I think after 13, 14 seasons, it's time they hang up the skates.

This cast is even more diverse that the last cast. I'm guessing maybe they cast them at the same time, especially to get it going and on the air so quickly.
There's a large number of contestants that were born outside the U.S, as well. Last season was the first season i'd watched in quite awhile. I like some episodes, others bore me to death

From what I heard in interviews, was a bit close for them. Several members of support staff were flown out, and food was hard to get for both support staff and "cast".

I'm bored of the Survivor shows already. I usually tune in to the first few but get bored of them so quickly. This show needs to take a break for a while but if the ratings are still good, then I'm sure it will be on for a long time to come.

Honestly, and maybe it's because the bio photos were arranged that way, but I really thought that producers were going to separate them by race again.

I also kept up with last season after skipping much of Survivor after All-Stars. I thought I was the only one, but found out many others did the exact same thing too. Producers did a few things different last season, and hopefully they'll do the same to keep viewers interested this time around.

Hell, try the Indian ocean, or off the coast of Africa somewhere...anything new. Try somewhere that's not an island. Australian Outback is airing here in repeats, and it was really interesting (and a lot longer than 39 days I think...)
I think they should do Survivor: Tuktoyaktuk. They'll have to battle the cold and hunt and ice fish to survive. Or, they should do Survivor: Churchill, manitoba, where they have to outwit the polar bears.

Now that would be interesting.

Interesting indeed, but then everybody knows that good TV means scantily clad under-nourished contestants!

Apparently!

Survivor was a good show when it first started, but then it just became so repetitive. I'll probably watch the new season because Mr. Pi Phi likes it, I just hope they change it up a little.

How about Survivor: Alaska? That would be interesting.

Last season was the first time I had watched Survivor since season 2.
I'll give the new season a try for a few episodes and see how it goes.
