One would think though since 9/11 and the fall of the towers was so publicized that companies would realize "hey we send stuff to WTC, maybe we should update our records". The difference with a person moving or dying is that that isn't world news covered in every county.
I mean I get with the article that they are addressed to specific people, but companies could look through their databases for the for the zip code that was strictly for the towers (10048) and delete those addresses. Yeah, it would take time, which is probably the reason it has never been done.
Why should these companies take the time to update their records when the post office can just lose time by having to sort out that mail and then toss it.
I'm sorry, I really find there should be no excuse for it now, it's been over five years.
