i think that there will always be mail....no suprise there.
whether it be from families kind of saying their last goodbyes
or businesses still not updating their systems when they do automail...

think about it. when you move into a new apartment, you always get someone elses mail....same concept really.

I got junk mail forwarded to me for years after my Mom died -- and even some stuff from folks who should have know better, like insurance companies.

yeah, its sad how companies will waste thousands of dollars on mailings that either never get to the person intended or thrown out.

oh well. <3

One would think though since 9/11 and the fall of the towers was so publicized that companies would realize "hey we send stuff to WTC, maybe we should update our records". The difference with a person moving or dying is that that isn't world news covered in every county.

I mean I get with the article that they are addressed to specific people, but companies could look through their databases for the for the zip code that was strictly for the towers (10048) and delete those addresses. Yeah, it would take time, which is probably the reason it has never been done.

Why should these companies take the time to update their records when the post office can just lose time by having to sort out that mail and then toss it.

I'm sorry, I really find there should be no excuse for it now, it's been over five years.

I'm probably in the minority that feels this way, so please agree to disagree with me.

There's a chance that some of the mail is sent there in hopes that the sender will get the forwarding address, but it amazes me how long companies keep track of people's whereabouts!

Edited to clarify: You can send a letter to a person at the address you have, and receive a forwarding address from the Post Office. You do have to ask for it, though.
