How the hell is ND 10th in the BCS? They haven't beaten anyone, and have gotten blown out by the 2 good teams they've played. The system is completely horsesh*t.

Shiner, since ND gets $2 million from the BCS whether they play in it or not each year, BCS probably figures might as well get their moneys worth...

Docet, they also get like 18 million for playing in a BCS game don't they? And they don't have to divide it among a conference. Ridiculous, its like affirmative action for the irish.

No, under the new agreement (not sure if it started last year or this year) Notre Dame gets $1.5 million guranteed a year, even if they don't play in a BCS bowl, but $4.5 million if they do play in a BCS bowl.

I'm glad I don't play for Hawaii or NM...

Wow, what a fun postseason.

Not so fast my friend. Anyone who thinks OU has a lock on the NU/OU game next week is sorely mistaken...

2 reasons:
1) They're Notre Dame; and
2) See 1.

Actually, it's not so bad because a) we get to watch one more game and b) fans will actually pack the stadium because the home team's playing (as opposed to teams they could really give a shit about).
It'd be awesome if Hawaii got invited to another bowl game, but Hawaii fans don't have much travel options if that were the case. It's at least a $300-$400 5-hour flight to the west coast so the fact that they get to stay home is a good thing and no one's complaining.

Dirk Koetter was fired from ASU yesterday.
I'm kind of glad, the whole Keller/Carpenter situation was just a mess and I'm sure that was one of the reasons for him being fired. I don't really care how "disconnected" a coach is from their team, my feeling is, you can't just publically announce "yes, I'm going with this guy" and then because 19 players come forward and then they "talk" and then say "oh I'm sorry, I changed my mind this person will now be my starting QB". As a coach, yes you can be "disconnected" from the team, but the last time I checked he was the coach.
I've coached (albeit not football) but I would have never decided to cut a person from the team because a select few came up to me and said "no we don't like this person". It doesn't work that way. As a coach you look out for the best interest of the whole team, not a select few. For me, team sports, are just that team, you have to learn to get along.
When you've got a team of probably around 100 (and I'm totally just guestimating the amount of players are on the team), taking the "word" of 19 players for the entire team, is just plain stupid, IMPO.
Mind you, what I'm saying is pretty much all the public has ever been told, so a lot of opinions have been formed, but the information about what "really happened behind the closed doors" hasn't been leaked. If more has come out, I don't know it unless A) it's on the news or B) in the cover page of the paper (I generally don't read the sports section).

Chizik to ISU.
Thank God. The Horns still have Davis.
Looking forward to RRS 2007.

Yeah, I wish Chizik would have focused on our defense this year a little more than figuring out where he is going to coach.............absolutely inexcusable what happened the last two games. D was in total shambles............and i'm embarassed.
I am excited about next year. OU/TX will once again have big time National Title implications as both teams are going to be powerhouses.
