A serious message to everyone on GC.

Ladies and gents of GC,

It's now 12:52 am, 12/21, only 4 days away from Christmas, 11 away from the new year. I don't know if it is just me being overly sensitive today, but what the FUCK is up with all of the anger between the greek brothers and sisters on this board? The amount of sarcasm, mean spirited cynicism and general bitchiness is overwhelming on this site. There are some people who disagree with others comments and thats cool. Some people definetly disagree with the stuff I say and hey, that's cool too, you're entitled.

Granted, i haven't been on here that long at all, and haven't grasped everyones attitudes, history, or history with each other but damn, the hostility here is sometimes unreal. I don't want to seem as if I'm talking down to anyone, cause that's not how I'm trying to come off, i'm just saying that maybe we should all watch what we say soemtimes (including myself.) It's real easy to type shit to people you barely know, because you don't really have to care how it affects them or even if it affects them at all. Even behind screennames though, we are all people, it seems a little easy to forget that at times i suppose.

This has personally been one messed up tumultuous year for me. I lost a grandfather, a cousin and then 4 friends in the WTC, so maybe I'm more in tune than a few of us may be when realizing how important it is that we are all cool with each other while we are given the chance to exist, even if it's only over some website forum. Not that you have to believe or even lsiten to what I am writing, but if even one person gets what I'm trying to say, then it was worth writing. I hope everyone has an awesome holiday and I'm emploring everyone, TRY to turn the other cheek to insults and TRY to see others viewpoints, even if they may seem stupid. Our diversity is what makes us great, be it the letters we bare across our chest on sweaters, or the ideas we have in our heads. It might be easy to dismiss difference as stupidity, but maybe a little more meaningful to accept it as worth something.

Anyways, enough of my shit.
ya'll take care of yourselves.

I agree with PKTSU01. You have my deepest sympathy for your losses. As a fellow New Yorker, I have also been affected. I went to my 23 year old firefighter neighbor's funeral earlier this month. I never had any room in my life for b.s. or cruelty, but the tragedy put things in perspective for me. It reinfoced the things that I knew to be true. Every life is special and precious, and every day that we have is a gift from God. (I hope that I don't sound like a holy roller.) I decided that I want to live my life making a positive impact on people's lives not a negative impact. I decided not to let the little things bother me. Everyone has a choice. You can be kind or cruel, and believe me, there is enough cruelty out there. I hope that at his time of year, particularly this year, we can all exercise a little goodwill toward our fellow mankind. For me kindness and goodwill equal forgiveness and generosity and ultimately happiness.

Even though im 6-7 hours from the city, you have my deepest sympathies also PKTSU and Cream. And I agree with you 100% on the cynicism and hostility on this board. Most of it isnt really called for in my OPINION, and yes I know at time I have probably did one or two myself, but it was probably uncalled for itself. Its just a board and too an extent I really dont take much of the stuff on here to seriously if I dont need too. There is way more to life than being (ill say the ghetto word) bougsy (sp??) and having a stick up the you know what. Live it and dont worry about stuff on an internet board. Sometimes I think to myself, and I hope no one takes offense to this..., if this is how upset some of the people on here get about stuff on a board, id wouldnt want to see how they be if I actually knew them. Sometimes you just have to let things roll

PKTSU,

I was reading the other thread that you had started a few minutes ago-i was having fun reading the different posts then I saw some posters who questioned your threads and frankly I thought that was petty and mean. I f you don't like someones posts then don't read them, there is no reason to be mean about it. I remember a few threads back-I think it was the nintendo thread where you asked about which was preferred and the someone had to pipe in and complain about the thread then you responded etc... I responded by putting can't we all f***king get along-that was not intended to insult you I am JUST tired of people insulting or complaining about other people's threads. I f you start a thread and I think it is interesting or fun I will reply if not I will just pass it by but I won't ever tell you that your thread is stupid, how could you post this, blah blah blah. That is just plain rude. I f I have ever offende you I am sorry. I try to be level headed when applying to posts especially controversial ones. As far as though what is ABC like on your campus posts-like I said before if I have nothing good to say I would rather not say anything at all.

yes, that was me. I was not trying to not get along, but to be honest, it gets annoying seeing the same similar posts back to back all day everday.
I mean, if we wanted, we could compare one thing to the next day after day after day, it gets old. I like to have a stimualting thread pop up on here now and then. And to be really honest, to keep seeing shit about penis size or sex or this and that is very annoying, and it only helps reinforce those ever so popular greek stereotypes. He told me in another thread he wanted to be a mod. Fine, go for it, more power to you. But, just because someone posts a gizillion times a day does not mean they will qualify to be a mod. Futhermore, he also stated that he wanted to help and inform people on here. Fine, but i've see one post by him that has helped me. The rest, blah. I mean yea, have fun with it, but don't be hypocritical about it. I can be a dick at times, and i am, I have probably gone through more than anyone else on this site.

To end, who really cares in the end, it's a forum in "cyberspace" don't get worked up about it. It's all fun and games.

I agree with everyone here...I think I posted something to that extent earlier today. Things here get petty quick, and I thought we would have all learned in the past three months that life is WAY TOO SHORT to be so damned petty. When my friends in the Financial District are worried about getting/losing their jobs, and the economy sucks sweaty balls, I have a lot more to think about than "Oh my gosh, SH80's at it again!" The world is much bigger than being a moderator on Greekchat, and it's not worth the accompanying power trip.

PKTSU01--

I hope you have a merry holiday season! I'm sorry for the hard year that you've experienced.

The problem seems, to me, that people think of greekchat as a 'status' thing. The longer you have been a member, the higher status you have. It's kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Some people are on here all day and have a ridiculous amount of posts. They have nothing else to do except give out negativity and start controversies. Luckily, most of us have a life other than being a moderator, senior member, junior member, banned, etc, etc, etc... We have to remember--it's just a website!!! For all you guys know, I may be a 14 year old boy who has been pretending to be an AXO for the last 2 years. And AXOAlum (who I miss so much by the way and has to drop me an email!) may be my 12 year old sister...and so on and so on...we are all behind a "front" by being on a faceless computer.

I'll bet these people have attitude problems in "real life" as well. It is a problem they'll have to live with.

I know it's a pain reading the same nonsense over and over and over, but unfortunately these people won't change their attitudes. Just keep smiling and living your life the way YOU want. Ignore the jerks in life. Respond to the genuine people.

Merry Christmas to all!

OR, as I've said at least TWICE in other posts...

Haven't seen too many personal attacks on anyone at all lately other than a certain IT that has made a million screenames. It has just been general disagreements in threads which basically happens whenever a thread is made.

Cream and PKTSU01,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you, hope the holiday season provides some joy after all you've been through. Cream, the way you described living life is the way I've tried to, and you put it into words extremely well.

As far as any comments I've made that could be perceived as mean or cruel (and my post in the "Ladies, the question has to be asked..." thread is the only one I could think of), it was merely a comment on what I thought of the thread - not a personal attack on PKTSU01. Everyone on this chat has that right, and if anyone had any opinions on anything I'd post, bad or good, I'd want you all to tell me honestly what you thought - that's the great thing about forums such as these - if you don't like something said, you have the right to voice that.

Umm, that would be a good idea, unless that person spills your personal business onto the public boards.
