And why do they make them so ill fitting? BF and I finally found something we could live with for a party that we're going to tomorrow night- he was going to be the Tin Man and I was going to be Dorothy (we're not feeling particularly creative). Fine. They only have a M tin man costume. BF is 6'3. The tin man should not be wearing capris and a belly shirt.
I try on the M Dorothy costume. I'm 5'7. It fits, but it so ridiculously short it covers maybe 1/3 of my behind. So fine, I try on the L. It covers perhaps 1/2 of my behind. The waist starts right under my boobs. Even if I wore something under it it would look stupid.
Who designs these costumes????
So we're going to be lazy. He's going to be Kfed and i'm going to Britney. Both of us will wear beaters and trucker hats. I'm going to carry around an boy Cabbage Patch doll (going to by a tshirt for him tonight and write "Sean Preston" on it) and a Starbucks cup and keep on dropping the doll.

I think i know the dorothy costume you have....that's my costume as well!
I know what you mean....i had to buy boy shorts to wear underneath (and on top of another pair of undies) just so that my butt wont hang below the outfit.

MAGIC 8 BALL
Ok, I finally decided. I am going to dress as a Magic 8 Ball. I will dress in all black, pin an "8" to my shirt, and wear a little purse around my neck with "fortunes"-- All Signs Point To Yes, Reply Hazy/Try Again Later, Very Doubtful, etc.
I'm going to Michael's at lunch to buy some glitter and foam paper.

That's awesome.... would you hate me if I stole it if my etch-a-sketch costume falls through? (Red shirt, white buttons on the bottom and a white board around my neck.)

This is the best costume idea EVER. As of now, I have nowhere to go for Halloween, thus no reason to get dressed up yet. But I owe some people a picture of one costume, and so I promise to at least get that picture done. I don't want to let my eyebrows look scraggily just for a costume, so I'm going to town with an eybrow pencil instead.

I am happy to share! Some other ideas:
Dress in all black.... cut out the letter "P" in felt and pin it to your shirt. Draw a black circle around one of your eyes with eyeliner and you're a Black Eyed P!
or.... Dress in all black or all white and pin underwear and socks to your pants and shirt-- your're Static Cling!
I printed up my "Circle 8" and triangles with "fortunes" on the computer and bought some glitter and foam paper at Michael's during lunch. Total cost: $2.78. My date is going as the Swedish Chef-- I bet his fake moustache ends up costing more than that!

You should make it a Crown Royal bag.

I am going to be a tornado. I dressed as this one year and college and it turned out really cute, so hopefully it will be the same this year. Basically I wear an off the shoulder black shirt, black mini-skirt, and black leggings. Over that I have black and white tulle that looks gray when layered together, I wrap that around me and glued onto the tulle underneath layers and pretty much everywhere are farm animals, cars, and people. It's pretty sweet, except I couldn't find any miniature people for my costume this year so I had to settle for little ninja figurines instead, hopefully no one will notice.

Thanks to a sweet suggestion from Lil'Hannah, the husband and I are going as a Double Dare team (from the Nickelodeon show). Wal-Mart even had the big plastic safety goggles.

The nun idea fell through. No one had headpieces only and I wasn't about to pay $40 for a crappy full costume at the halloween store when I already had the gown part.
So I'm going to be a beatnik. Not that dressing in all black and doing funky makeup is much of a stretch for me.

33-i bet you could make a whimple out of white posterboard-a la "the flying nun." just get a 1/2 yard of cheap black fabric to cover your hair-i'll bet it would work.
fab-loooove the tornado idea. i may pass it on to my daughter, if you don't mind.

Glad you like it , the first time I dressed as it was b/c I didn't plan any other costume and this was cheap and easy to make. The animals, cars, and other toys can usually be found at Wal-Mart in a big bag for like 80 cents or something ridiculous. Those things, plus safety pins, the tulle, and some good glue (no hot glue gun, found out the hard way that it won't hold the stuff on there for long ) are all you need!

I'm going as Rachel Ray. I'm going to blow dry my hair in the same style as hers, wear "cutsey" clothes and have a fake knife sticking out of my shoulder blade. I'm going to walk around saying chipper, yet inane, things like, "Wow, I can really feel the knife slicing past my lung" and "With tax and tip, my emergency room bill came out to $732.36. And, because I clipped a coupon, I get the first five minutes of rehab free!"

did anyone see the "weekend today show" today? the newsreader and the weatherman dressed up as tom cruise and katie holmes-complete with baby doll in his leather, half zipped jacket-i rotfl!
the couple was dressed in plain colored t-shirts, jeans and leather jackets-the newsreader kept repeating her mantra of "i'm so happy" and "tom is so great" in a monotone and staring into space. he jumped on a sofa, and totally controlled "katie".
