Are you against AI? Post here.

Read the rules before posting!!! These rules apply to this thread, not the entire forum.
  1. Your opinion should only pertain to women who, without prior ties to an NPC group, actively seek membership in that group via AI.
  2. At the request of AChiOSnap, I'm adding the option to state opinions on programs developed to actively seek AI members.
  3. No rebuttals are allowed in this thread. You can say "I agree with what Suzie Sunshine posted", but you cannot argue with the original poster.
  4. Opinions should be stated politely and succinctly. Namecalling, insults, references to past 'trainwrecks' will not be allowed and will be deleted immediately upon discovery.
  5. Please note that there are TWO threads - one pro and one con.
GO!

Until sororities open up "Alumnae Recruitment" AI is not something that should be a sub forum on GC.

Women without sorority ties through family/friends/colleagues should not "pursue" AI until a sorority makes it clear that they are recruiting AI members.

Moved over from other thread:
Quote:
I think women without prior ties should not actively seek AI membership. AI is not recruitment. If a sorority has a program that actively recruits AIs then it becomes recruitment and an activity that this sorority and its members should promote.

I do not think AI should be part of GC sub forums. It gives the appearance that AI is far more common than it really is b/c so many more people surf the internet than ever before... this sub forum makes it appear that AI is part of the natural course of sorority life.

I welcome all of our AI sisters as Panhellenic sisters. I don't care how they came by their membership--clearly their sponsoring associations saw something in them and they're here now. They don't need to prove anything or feel like 2nd class citizens.

In a circumstance where a woman has no ties to a particular sorority (and by "ties" I do not mean loving a group that you rushed unsucessfully as an undergrad), I do not think she should pursue AI.

I do not care how much a woman loves the ideals/philanthropy/mascot/mission statement of a particular group, if she has no prior ties to that sorority, I am not interested in her story nor will I be supportive of her search.

I am against AI if the woman has no prior ties to the sorority/sororities that she wants to pursue.

I am against AI, as that is my only option under the current regime.

Please see edit to the rules, above. If that makes any difference.

Oh Snap! You said it and I agree. I agree with a lot of GLOs' philanthropies, love their mascots, colours etc. but that has no bearing on my fitting with the group. I think AI is only appropriate when there are prior ties and connections.

I am against AI unless it's specific circumstances such as a local became an NPC or the woman has had some kind of special connection to the sorority (legacy, former pledge who still contributes to the sorority, someone who has spent their lifetime working for the sorority's philanthropy, etc.).

I am against these threads. I don't see the point and even with the rules, I have a feeling there will be problems.

I guess I just don't see what this will accomplish.

But, for those of you who do, have fun!
