Why ASA?
I'm a freshman, and formal greek rushing is going to start in 1 month, I'm seriously considering ASA. I was wondering if anyone had any reasons why I should rush ASA. Is acceptance easy? Any statistics that could help me out? Anyone?

Hey Nicole!
I am not an ASA, however, my local sorority is going national here pretty soon and I have researched a couple of NPC sororities. ASA was one that I researched after my sisters were talking about it one day. I have since researched it myself and I instantly fell in love with it. I fell in love with it as my sisters were telling me about it but after the meeting in which they were saying all these great things I went to their national site which is very well put together I might add ( http://www.alphasigmaalpha.org) and again fell in love with the sorority. I love the motto "Every member makes a difference" a whole lot, however, I like the fact that ASA stays with you through out life even more. Sororities stay with you for life anyway because you can go alumnae after you're out of college but check out the website to see what I am talking about. ASA is a smaller sorority, but I like a small sorority because it gives me the chance to know my sisters in a more personal way. I like knowing who all my sisters are. Nicole, you should definitely go ASA it's one of my favorite sororities. I would love to meet some ASA's, so if you are an ASA please message me on AOL or whatever. My user name is in my profile. Well I'm gonna go ahead and post this before I go on any further. I just can't say enough positives about ASA. ASA ROCKS!

Hi ladies! I'm so happy to know that you're both interested in ASA!!
Nicole -- where are you going through rush? I see you're in Kansas City - that is definitely in the heart of ASA-land!
Leigh Ann -- has Panhel at your school received any materials from ASA or any other nationals yet? Lori Scott is our VP of Expansion - she's the one you would be dealing with.
Good luck to you both!

Why ASA?
Hi!
I've been considering Greek Life, but I'm not sure that it is for me. No one in my family was Greek in college, so I don't have any help there. I've been paying attention to the sororities, but I'm trying to decide if I want to make the next step.
I love what I've seen on Alpha Sigma Alpha's website, but I would like to hear about the experiences of actual members. Why did you choose ASA? How have you felt about your decision? What are your favorite things about being an ASA?

The main reason I chose ASA was because of the women in the chapter - those friendships and memories made were my favorite part. As far as that's concerned I've never regretted it.
Good luck with recruitment!

When I went to a COB for a different sorority, I had to take my sandals off to enter the house. When I went to a COB, I watched an ASA run through the house in gym shoes and vault over the back of the couch and plop down. That's how I knew I found my house. That's why they ended up #1 on my bid card at Formal Rush the next semester.
I'm glad I chose ASA because even though our chapter was closed the next semester, I still treasure the time that I lived in the house with my sisters. And I was able to be on Executive board my first semester active. That probably wouldn't have happened with any other sorority.

The girls were so different than the rest of the other sorority girls. I never would have dreamed of getting in any of those sororities. But I love and miss ASA sooooo much.

I felt wanted, loved and accepted just for who I am in ASA. After I met the ladies in the alumnae chapter, I knew it was for me. Follow your heart and you'll find the right home for you.
Good Luck and Love
