9/11!
Today is five years after the bombing of the Twin Tower Centers and not a God Damn Post!
I have My Flag at Half Mast!
Almost 3,000 of Americans and other Nationalitys Died that day!
Is it to soon to forget?
I don't and I Won't!

Just brought our flag in due to thunderstorms in the area.
Youngest son is now living in New York City.
Thinking about the folks I supervised at the UN last summer -- who believe they were a secondary target five years ago.
Things are different now and will always be...

No, it's not too soon to forgot. As Santayana said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

No one's forgotten, it's just that not everyone feels the need to relive the horror of that day.

Or perhaps people feel it's a topic deserving more gravity than a smiley-ridden internet thread in a forum marked "Chit Chat."

Ditto to both of those.
9/11 was terrible... but it does not consume my life for one day each year. I talk about it with people, talk about where we were, watch the news... and then I go to GC for non 9/11 coverage. You can only deal with so much!

Drolefille;
I will ask you the question that was asked me the other day:
Why did you follow this thread? Was it interest or just a reason to critic it?
I do understand your POV and HO but perhaps it is not common in all.
You stated that you come to GC for anything but 9/11 coverage. GC is a section of general society so others may come here to shair feelings on 9/11. Or death of the son of a lower-list celaberaty (sp). Or the rape of a college student. And any other matter going on in the world.
As was rather stongly suggested to me, one should pick a section or thread of interest, and leave alone the ones that do not.
Just my POV and HO.
FYI: All the papers,in my area, have had front page coverage on/about 9/11 for past three days. As have the news channels both cable and basic.

Yeah, and it's no big deal if there IS in fact 9/11 discussion on here. It's also no big deal if there ISN'T. It's not SAD or TRAGIC or anything. Any discussion is viable (not "sad"). I read the majority of the threads on here, and you'll note, only commented about why there may not be more discussion.
I'm not complaining about discussion of 9/11 on GC... but I'm not complaining about the other threads either. So there's not really a comparison to what you've been doing.
/so sad that people are discussing this on the day that South African black civil rights leader Steven Biko died while in police custody
