Thank you! Shall I use this as my thread? I'm real excited and my daughter is real tired. Couple things of note. As with many girls in her group, their opinions shifted towards the various houses based on today's exposure. Houses that were a hair lower on the list jumped to the top and vice versa. adpiucf, I think I better tell you I graduated from USF in Tampa - go Bulls! My youngest daughter, a hs sophomore, has UCF identified as one of her possible choices (but not USF) - go Knights!

That's ok, Dad. I won't hold it against you! My boss is a Bull and we have a deal going where whoever wins our football game this season buys the other one lunch for a week (and he doesn't know it yet, but I will be wallpapering his office with black and gold streamers!!!!)

Good luck to your daughter! I have been following your story and it looks like she is doing great at Univ. of Alabama's rush. I'll keep my fingers crossed for her and be sure to give us an update when you hear from her this morning!!!

It's also exciting to think that your family may be starting a wonderful Greek tradition! (The mother of a girl who just pledged at UGA said that her younger daughter was so excited at the thought that she is now a legacy!)

Here's hoping the best for your girl!

Okay, my daughter just called with her Philanthropy day results. She has been asked back to 8 sorority houses after being selected for 13 house visits yesterday (she visited the maximum 11 allowed). She is allowed make seven visits today. Guess what? She is totally thrilled with each house, saying: "Daddy, if I had to pick an absoulte favorite this morning I just couldn't do it. I love them all." She promised to give a 100% effort at every house. Needless to say, I am really proud of my Bama daughter.

Sounds like she's having a good recruitment. If her invitations continue like they have, I hope she'll be able to make a decision!

Not being familiar with the process, I imagine the tables could turn at a moment's notice. She was selected for 13 from Open House, then 8 from Philanthropy Day. She hypothetically could get reduced to 1, 2 or even 0 after today, I suppose. So I don't know if she is quite out of the woods yet. Thank the stars above Alabama we are getting near the end!

Congrats to Bama Daughter!!!!

While you are correct, the tides could turn at any moment, I would say that in a competitive recruitment like Bama, getting invites to more houses than parties for each round so far is a GREAT thing. Her positive attitude and open mind will really help her out now. Best of luck to her and I can't wait to hear the next update!

Kudos to BamaDaughter! It's awesome she is doing so well in such a competitive system. I attended the Univ. of Alabama about a million years ago, and even then, it was very competitive (although this was the 1970s). I wish both you and your daughter the best! It's really hard on us parents -- we're the ones waiting by the phone with bated breath!! It'll be my turn next week -- TexasDaughter starts Recruitment on Monday!
