Question Is it wrong?

Is it wrong to let your young relatives:
1. Wear "Future XYZ" shirts?
2. Display the hand sign?
3. Say the call?

Are we pressuring our little ones to choose our organization?

Unhappy

I don't think it's appropriate, it might be "cute" when your 3 yr old niece does it, but what about your 16 yr old who looks like a college student ?
I personally hate future anything shirts because it can do one of two things. 1) Give someone a feeling of entitlement which can cause problems 2) Cause someone to be pressured to make the wrong decision for themselves.

I think it is wrong for the very same reasons as listed above. Thus when I have little ones, they will not be allowed to do anything of the sort.

However, I must say that it is cute. (There is a soror here who has a 4 or 5 year-old daughter who knows the hand sign.)

Anyway, it is wrong (in my humble opinion).

I'm going to personally refuse to label this anyone's answer to this question "wrong" or "right" and reserve judgement. It's all about what works for you as an individual. I have a 1 and 1/2 year old son whom I may purchase a future sigma t-shirt for. i don't see him wearing that past the ripe old age of 2. However, regardless of whatever kind of shirt I want to put on my child now, when the time comes for him to choose a greek-lettered organization to join, I will stand behind him in whatever decision he decides to make.

I purchased Future Zeta T-shirts for my 7 year old twin sisters. I don't think it's wrong for them to wear them. But when they get to amicette age, they will have to retire the shirts and cease doing the hand signs and calls I taught them. They can, however continue to learn how to step

Soror sexZzeta, hit the nail on the head. To each his own. When and if the time comes for children to decide which way to go, we should support whatever decision is made.

I just thought about something else. (This is a little far out though). What if the kids woke up one day and said that they did not like the colors of the shirt and wanted to wear something else like a future delta shirt or a future alpha shirt. (Provided the kids actually saw all of these shirts when you wanted to purchase the future zeta or sigma shirt). Would anyone here want to purchase shirts intimating that our kids wanted to be down with one of those other organizations?

My answer to that question would be NO!!!!! I aint buying no shirts with nobody else's organization on them!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you frat. Right now my nephew, whose 8, loves the colors blue and white. However if that changed I would never buy him another organizations t-shirt. When he is old enough to make an informed choice if he decided not to pledge Sigma I will support that. For now I just pray that his blood will be BLUE!

Soror zetaphibeta301,

I hope your nephew's blood is blu!!!! If it is not, I guess all will just have to deal with it.
