WICKED the musical
Has anyone seen this play? I saw it at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Sunday and it was FANTASTIC!! Galinda was so funny, I just really loved the story line. Defying Gravity is my new theme song for the year

Soror, I read the book a while back and absolutely LOVED it. I've been dying to see it on Broadway and I finally got tickets for June 15th. We'll have to discuss after I see it!

It's coming to the O.C. in August. I plan on seeing it.

I was there at the same performance!!!! I was disappointed when I found out Glinda and Elphaba were understudies before the show, but I thought they did a fabulous job!!! (Probably because they were SOO excited to actually get to perform.)
Love Defying Gravity (see sig)....I've had the soundtrack for about 6 months, and that's always been my fav.

I read the book and saw the musical, and I looooooved both. They are slightly different, so if you've only seen/read one or the other, then be prepared for that when you read/see the other.
For those who aren't familiar; Wicked was originally a book written by Gregory McGuire that tells the story of the Wizard of Oz from the Wicked Witch of the West's perspective. It has since been adapted into a Tony award winning musical. I highly recommend both. Also, Gregory McGuire has several books written from similar angles on other fairy tales.
This musical is also discussed on Greekchat here.

Right. It basically tells the life story of the Wicked Witch of the West...how she became the WWW, it gives a totally new perspective on the Wizard of Oz story. That is all I will say so that I don't ruin it for anyone. But it is wonderful play.
What a coincidence Alpha Frog. I LOOOOVVVEEEDDDD the actress who played Galinda ("with a GUH"). She was fantastic.
I know how you feel waiting Soror Bamboozled. I bought my tickets last year sometime on the day they went on sale. I've been looking forward to seeing it ever since. It is well worth the wait.
Trying to figure out if I am "tragically beautiful" or "beautifully tragic"

Be prepared...it's NOT a children's fairy-tale. It's actually a political satire. I would have enjoyed it more knowing that info going into it. I had heard that it's "not like the musical", but I didn't expect it to be like it was...
