Home Brew
Not sure if this has been discussed before, but has anyone here ever tried brewing their own or even cidar? Pros/Cons? One of my brothers did it for awhile. Some batches turned out really good and others not so good when he didnt give it enough time.

He was on the morning radio show I listen to yesterday. It was only 8 AM and he sounded like he already had had a few!

I have a homebrew kit and a book, but have yet to try out any of the book's recipes.
There are a couple of companies that sell "beer in a bag". Directions are pretty foolproof, and it yields about 30 pints. There are a few different varieties ~ porter, lager, etc. Basically, you add water and let it sit for 3-4 weeks... then you have beer.
If you want to brew your own, sterility is the key. Make sure everything is clean, otherwise you don't know what might be growing in your beer. (How I wish I had an autoclave...)

Bruthaman,
Thats awesome how your family is into that. Yeah, been thinking I might it give it a shot sometime. My Dad and I love Sam Adams. I had no idea thats how old sam got into it or at least that I can remember. Very cool. Thats certinally an idea on how to make my first million. ha ha. A life time of free beer too......
P.S. You got to love it when a guy like that ties on a few and promotes his stuff on a morning radio show. We had this wine guy Robert Mondavi that sat on a radio show(also in the morning) here recently. He mentioned very rarely does he ever drink the really expensive ones himself.

I have a few Uncles who do the 'home-brew' thing. Although, I am from Wisconsin, land of beer, where almost 1 in 3 households has some type of brewery in it. I have tried them, and they are all good. I imagine, 'practice makes perfect', so give 'er a shot.

The best part of homebrewing is that you get to name each batch. My cousins made one called "Opposable Thumb Brew" and the slogan was "Just try to drink it without one!"
