Electronica

Just out of curiosity, does anyone out there like electronica? I'm looking for some new cd's and was looking for suggestions.

What kind of music are you looking for? "Electronica" is a generic term for electronic music, and there are so many types. There's house, techno, jungle, drum n bass, intelligent dance music, abstract, hardcore, happy hardcore, breakbeat....plus tons of variations of each genre. Let me know what kind of music you're into, and I can help you out with stuff you might like.

I feel like "electronica" the term will soon become as vague and all-encompassing as "alternative" got a few years back. Would Moby be considered electronica? I like him and Alice Deejay.

hey there,
Well, mostly house and techno. Happy hardcore? Not sure but I think I have a general idea what that is. I like mostly happy music.

Try to get your hands on "Simple Things" by a band called Zero 7. It's nice, atmospheric electronica, not a techno, dancey kind of electronica.

I also like Underworld, Kevin Yost (although he's more of a house DJ than electronica) and Air.

definitely check out groove armada. John Digweed is good too. Do what I do - when I'm out and I like the music, I just go right up to the DJ and start asking him about the music. Those guys' whole life is music so they are always willing to talk about it. Then I know the name of the group...and I can find it online...not that I'm advocating pirating music or anything. Um, yeah...

Question Prozzak

I was in Macy's yesterday and in the JR dept they play music videos on the monitors. I saw a cute video by a group called PROZZAK. The song was It's not me it' you. The tune was to the Sugar Plum Fairy of the Nutcracker. Any one heard of this group?

Did you see "High Fidelity"? Your post reminded me of the movie...ever had a DJ make a mix tape for you?

grr... I'll try this again, my internet is acting up.

I like Darade (does the song "Sandstorm", some of the stuff by DJ Skribble (like MDMA), and that omnibus song by Laut-Sprecher, Ultra.Dance 01 or 02 (remixes) anything that you can dance to, basically.

I also LOVE the Lo Fidelity Allstars, the CD How to "Operate With a Blown Mind" is really good. Try out the song "Battleflag". If you ever watch NBC, they always play it during their commercials and it's been on ER a few times.

I can add some Eurobeat music to the list:

Captain Jack (awesome stuff - the CDs are crazy expensive becasue they're imports, but you can usually find his stuff on Napster-clones)

E-Rotic (every song is very sexually suggestive, but the beats are good)
