Finally paying attention to Chaos' siggy, huh?

More tea Sir? in slave talk--we couldn't be too articulate then, because that meant we were reading and that was a crime punishable by a whipping at the least and death at the most.

Why ask if you're not going to pay attention to the answer that ladygreek so nicely provided for you?

Thank you. And I have no idea what "hodydoe" is. But I was trying to give an honest answer and he took it there.

Chaos' siggy has been there a long time now and it was prompted by a post where a Black person was complimented for being articulate. If folx really want segregation to stop and for us to be a color-blind society, then they really need to think about some of the things they say, and the implications of such.

It may sound petty, but believe me it is a big deal.

And now, I know longer wonder about his post in the Pike thread, I understand fully from where he is coming. It really underscores the questions some of us have about the Pikes at HU.

We?? I didn't realize you were once a slave ladygreek. My ancestors owned a farm in Germany. Does that make me a farmer?

You are proving your own point. It's really not fair, but people equate using words like "folx" instead of "folks" with things like "Moteesir" and "hodydoe". I'm not picking on you, I'm just pointing it out.

I understand your questions too and it is your right to question our intentions with PiKA and I tried to anwser them, but no longer will I do so because it became negative as opposed to being inquisitive.

Oh and since it was said about me being articulate my question is why do we always see that as negative? I do understand the previous implications from older society, but can you deny the lack of the ability to speak in an appropriate fashion, that many young black people exhibit these days?

I agree that some people can code switch, I myself can do it, but how many of us can't? (For the black people) How many times in your own head, have you seen some young people talking and been dissapointed because you know that that speach will not help them in today's world? Seriously let's not lie to ourselves here.

Um, folx is internet shorthand--nothing more, nothing less.

And as for me being a slave--yes I had relatives who were, and I remember the stories. But beyond that, what I stated is a known fact. And very honestly it still manifests itself today, i.e. some of the posts here on GC.
