What's in your stocking?
Okay - so in the past 11 years that Mr. AXO & I have been dating/married, I have come to learn that I must have led a very spoiled life as a child. One year, I got some gum and candy in my stocking from Mr. AXO -- I was like "WTH is this?" See - at my parent's house growing up, your stocking wasn't like the "BIG" Christmas gift, but it was the totally "not needed but definitely wanted" type stuff. We always got watches, jewelry, concert tickets, etc. in our stockings. Like I said - it wasn't the big gift, but it was a nice finishing touch (yeah - we always checked our stockings last).
I mentioned this at an alum party last week and they were like WTH? They said that they always got necessities like deoderant, socks, underwear, etc.
So to rip off the Capital One commercial.... What's in your stocking?

The stockings are often times my favorite part about Christmas morning! In my family, when we were little and would wake up VERY early, the rule was we could open our stockings but not any presents until 7am.
Our stockings were more little things, like gum and candy but also cute pens, life savers, socks, toiletries, etc but cute stuff. Fun stuff. Lottery tickets etc.
Now that I am an adult, travel sizes of laundry detergent, hats, christmas ornaments, ice scrapers etc.
I love stockings. There is a rumbling in my family that this will be the last time we exchange gifts which is fine. We are all so blessed and we don't need anything but I am going to propose that we keep the stockings. They simply are way too much fun for me!

The stuff in my stocking was always small inexpensive stuff. A pair of earrings, some cute socks, a candy bar, maybe an ornament, lip gloss, etc.

In our stockings were the traditional oranges, apples, and of course some candy hidden in there by my dad.
Jewelry? Maybe the candy kind but our stockings were filled with old fashioned stuff.
Cool to see the variety though.....

Coffee... batteries... lip gloss... toothbrushes...
Generally things that I now steal from my parents when I'm home.

The earth will stop its rotation if my mother doesn't give everyone a stocking with an orange or tangerine, pennies, and hard candy in it ("gold", riches, and a sweet year). From there, it gets a little dicey - usually lottery tickets, a magazine subscription, logic problem or crossword books, and a disposable camera or film. Nothing really exciting, but tradition does that to you!

Usually some sports cards packs, cheap tickets to a sports game in town, and candy

My parents usually put good stuff in our stockings. Like smaller gifts we asked for. Last year my brother got an Ipod in his and I got a digital camera.

The non-food items in our stockings vary but it's a *rule* that there has to be a very large orange in the toe, followed by a very big Red Delicious apple!

I have never EVER gotten fruit in my stocking. If I did, I would be super-pissed.
My stocking always had candy, money, jewelry, lip-gloss, etc. The small items. I ALWAYS opened my stocking(s -- yes, I had two) first.

I never had fruit in my stocking either. I always received lottery tickets, lip gloss, money, candy, pez dispensers. Small things like that.
I bought stocking stuffers for my husband tonight. I think up until last year he thought those magically got filled --- he would forget those every year. But last year I guess he realized that someone has to do them. I got gift certificates for tanning, mani and pedi. He did a great job!

I dont remember, honestly. Must not have been too impressive. The stockings themselves were cool. (My grandmother made them). My sisters were made ot of my moms wedding dress and mine was made from one of my dads old air force uniform coats.
My mom isnt very creative. In fact, some years she forgot to put anything in there at all.

As a kid, we always had a tangerine or orange in the toe of our stocking. Since we used our actual socks, there wasn't a lot of room in there for presents. We usually had some chocolate, a candy cane, Hershey's kisses and stuff like that. My own kids get mostly candy with a couple little inexpensive things. This year, my daughter is getting some lip glosses and my son is getting an 8 Ball pen (that tells fortunes, he loves those magic 8 balls) and a bouncy ball. They are each getting a small Ty Christmas bear too.

I remember one Christmas when 5-6 beanie babies were half-hangin out of my stocking! It looked so cute!
