Question Dropping Long Distance Question

Okay, so I want to drop AT%T cause they charge $8.15 just for the "privilege" of having AT%T let me call out of state...okay it's really only my hubby because I'm smart and use my nation-wide long distance calling plan on the cell phone, lol.

Dumb Question ---- if I don't have a long distance carrier, can people still call my house from long distance?

I kinda sorta know the answer but thought I'd check with y'all...I figure at least 2 people here have done it with successful results.

Yes.

My fiance and I don't have LD on our land line because we both have our cells for LD.

You don't need a long distance carrier, but what many people don't know is that you can bargain with them. Due to my former long distance relationship, I'm paying $2.95/month and 2.9 cents a minute for my long distance calling. RARELY is my bill over $15.00!

Sure you can still get long distance calls from people. I haven't had long distance on my phone since I lived with my parents when I was in high school (circa 1997). I'm thinking about dumping my landline all together when I move to Michigan at the end of the month, because I just don't use it that much.

i havent had a land line in about 4 years. Use the cell for everything. I have an online fax servicce, so I dont even need a land line for that.

I should add that you can use one of the 1010 long distance numbers as ariesrising suggested or you may want to keep a calling card on hand, just in case you do need to use the land line for long distance on occasion. I use a calling card for calls to chapters in Canada because it's a dollar a minute on my cell.
