Brother Jed

Has this guy ever came to your school? Fire and brimstone evangelist, brings along his wife and kids, shouts at people...etc, etc.?

OMG, is he still around!? He & his wife Cindy were preaching when I was in school (80s) @ UF.

He had his kids with him back then. They must be in their 20s now...maybe he has more kids? Grandkids?

Never heard of him. In college, we just had Jehovah's Witnesses and the occassional NOI, but that was about it.

I think he's come to IU a few times.

Our campus preacher was Mad Max. He made the rounds between IU, Purdue, and Illinois. He died in 2000, though. Brother Dan and Brother Jim have also come to IU.

They were all good for free campus entertainment.

ETA: Brother Jed has an official homepage.

OMG!!Brother Jed, Sister Cindy, and their daughter Evangeline! They were frequently at FSU in the 80's (must be something about Florida). I haven't thought about them in years, and I can't believe they're still around.

I remember those nut jobs at the student union. I would love to see a video of them in action. Funny stuff.

Maybe there are interchangeable nutty preachers that show up at big schools. We had one called "Preacher Dan" that was a lot more amusing than he meant to be.

.

I remember him informing us that he'd been in every state except Alaska, to which some student replied "GO THERE!"...

Incidentally, back in his wild college days he was initiated into Delta Upsilon

I remember when one of the 80's talk show hosts (either Donahue or Sally Jesse) did an interview with him and his children. Crazy, messed-up family.

I don't think they ever came to my school when I was in college. We did have some other loony who would yell at everyone outside of the library. He was fun. He would tell the greeks that we're all fornicating sinners. My gay friend purposely started making out with his boyfriend in front of the guy. Classic.
