Halloween
I WAS WONDERING HOW MANY OF YOU WERE CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN AND HAVE YOU STUDIED IN DEPTH WHAT THAT HOLIDAY IS REALLY CELEBRATING AND SYMBOLIZING?
DID YOU KNOW HALLOWEEN IS THE FIRST DAY OF A WICCANS YEAR? SEE WWW.WICCAN.COM FOR DETAILS
DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE SYMBOLS OF HALLOWEEN ARE AND WHAT THEY REPRESENT?
EVEN THE COLORS HAVE A MEANING.
BLACK AND ORANGE-BONFIRE COLORS AND REPRESENTATION OF THE HUMAN SACRIFICES FOR THE WORSHIP OF EVIL SPIRITS. (NOT SAYING THIS IS A PRACTICE OF ALL WICCANS)
TRICK OR TREAT-PREPARATION OF GOODS FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE PREPARING THERE HOMES FOR THE SPIRITS, IF NOT TREATED THE HOME SHOULD BE CURSED.
BLACK CAT-THE WITCH GODDESS, DIANA, SHE BECOMES A BLACK CAT WHEN SHE GOES TO HAVE SEX WITH THE DEVIL. (RESEARCH MYTHOLOGY IT'S IN THERE)
THE BROOM STICK-KIND OF SYMBOLIZES THE MALE PENIS AND IS RIDEN TO BRING UP THE DEAD, ALL DEAD THINGS MUST RISE. AND TO GET THE LIMP MALE PENIS TO RISE IT IS RIDEN. (WITCHES USE NATURE TO DO THERE WORKS).
*NOT SAYING WITCHES ARE WICCANS
DID YOU KNOW REBELLION IS THE ROOT OF ALL WITCHCRAFT?
*HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HALLOWEEN OR RELIGION BUT JUST MAKING A POINTER.
THIS IS NOT TO DOWN THE WICCAN BELIEFS BUT TO LET THOSE WHO ARE SUPPORTING SUCH KNOW WHAT IT TRULY MEANS.
THAT BLOOD IS OFF MY HANDS USE THE INTERNET TO DO YOUR RESEARCH KNOW WHAT YOU TRULY ARE CELEBRATING.
THERE ARE FAR MORE THINGS I COULD TELL BUT THOSE WERE JUST A FEW SO THAT YOU COULD KNOW.

All I know (and love) about Halloween here at Iowa is that the bars all have mad drink specials and they give out serious prize money ($500) for best costume
On a serious note though, no I didn't know all of that. I don't think I am actually celebrating "halloween," it's more like an excuse to go out, dress funny and have fun. However, as a Christian, I do celebrate All Saints Day, Nov. 1st.

Sounds like this guy read some neofreudian analytical study on the motives of the celebration to Halloween and believes every word he reads out of Star magazine. Bat boy is back this halloween too, that damn nuisance. I'm not saying none of what you're saying is true, but everything turns around and changes ... you wanna get rid of Halloween? That what we're going for here?

"THE BROOM STICK-KIND OF SYMBOLIZES THE MALE PENIS AND IS RIDEN TO BRING UP THE DEAD, ALL DEAD THINGS MUST RISE. AND TO GET THE LIMP MALE PENIS TO RISE IT IS RIDEN. (WITCHES USE NATURE TO DO THERE WORKS)."
Actually, brooms in ancient times were used in a ritual that was believed to help crops grow. Brooms and pitchforks were taken into the fields and laid on the ground. People took turns jumping over them as high as possible because it was believed that crops would grow as high as the tallest jump made.
I find it funny that people consider Halloween a demonic holiday. If folks would spend a little time doing some research into the history of Samhein (which is now commonly known as Halloween), they might find out that it isn't about human sacrifices or devil-worshipping at all.
For the record, true witches don't even believe in an entity known as Satan, the devil, etc. --- much less worship one. (FYI: a witch and a Wiccan are actually two different things -- although some witches practice Wicca, not all of them consider themselves to be Wiccans.) Also, many Christian rituals are actually based on ancient Pagan beliefs. I found all of this info out with just a little bit of research a few months ago. And not one piece of that info was gleaned from pages of the oh-so-reliable National Enquirer.
"DID YOU KNOW THAT REBELLION IS THE ROOT OF ALL WITCHCRAFT?"
Hmmmm, did YOU know that rebellion is the root of MOST religions? In ancient times, people rebelled against the belief that there were multiple gods and goddesses to form the basis for the Jewish faith.
People who believed Jesus Christ was the Son of God rebelled against the Jewish faith to form Christianity.
Protestant religions were formed when people rebelled against the Roman Catholic Church.
So, I'm wondering exactly what point you're trying to make when you link rebellion with witchcraft.

Code Blue, I would advise you not to post about topics of which you have no knowledge.
As DZRose said, Samhain (or now "Halloween) originally marked the close of the season, and the final harvest festival in the Pagan year. These traditions began long before the rise of the Roman Empire or the birth of Christ, and have lasted for over 6,000 years.
The "bonfires" of which Code Blue speaks were not about "human sacrifices" or the "worship of evil spirits". They were used to honor loved-ones whom had passed away, as well as to ask "Mother Earth" for a successful harvesting season.
The origin of Trick-or-Treat is this: The ancient Celtic tradition of leaving special food as an offering to dead loved-ones, much like the Mexican offrenda. The practice of going from house to house was not originally just for Halloween. House to house visitations were common in ancient Europe as well as America on many holidays. These visits often included the singing of songs, and it is well documented that on many occasions adults went house to house as well as children. After singing, rhyming, or dancing for the house inhabitants, the visitors were often given money (Ireland) or food (Britain and Germany) in exchange for this entertainment. A poem that was often said in Ireland was:
Halloween is coming on and the geese are getting fat
Will you please put a penny in the old lad's hat?
If you haven't got a penny, a half penny will do
If you haven't got a half penny, a farthing will do.
If you haven't got a farthing, then a piece of bread will do.
If you haven't got a piece of bread, God bless you, and your old lad, too.
As for black cats, they were believed by the Celts to temporarily contain the souls of a family's dead beloveds, and would visit on All Hallow's Eve to keep watch over the family.

Most we over analize everything? I mean it's like the people that pick apart Disney movies and say oh look if you pause it you can see the Devil MOOWAHAHA. i mean really, must we take the fun out of everything.
I don't think th emillions of kids who celebrate Halloween or even Adults are celebrating for the "real" holiday. We dress up like a favorite character whether it be a pokemon, a bunny, a cat or whatever we score some 10 pounds of candy(duh, not literally, but I dunno some people get maddd stashes of candy) But it's all in fun in games. We aren't going to turn into trolls or pumpins at the end of the nite, we go home change and sleep. So to all my fellow GC'ers I hope you score mad stashes of candy on this dress up day of fun,lol
Smooches Oh PS.I am going as a Devil for Halloween, " MOOWAHAHA" (evil Laugh)

First things first:
Wiccan - not Wickan or however you spelled it.
Second- Do you know witchcraft and Wicca are two seperate beliefs? (look at me not being able to spell... lol)
Do you know that the Catholic mass is actually based on a pagan ritual thousands of years old? And most modern religions have a base in the ancient pagan religions?
Do you know that you read too much into what has become a "Hallmark" holiday, and has VERY much deviated from its origional meaning?
Also: With the colors, take a look at the colorwheel for a second:
Red is the opposite of green - Christmas
Purple is the opp. of yellow - Easter/Spring
Orange is the opp. of blue - Halloween/Fall
Dark navy blues often get mistaken for black
Hmm...
OH and if you want to talk about the DEVIL, you cant talk to a wiccan or a witch about it because they do not believe in a devil. So there goes your whole devil worshipping idea out the proverbial window!
Brooms are signs of luck and are not ridden or anything... they are used in rituals and such. Im sorry, but you will never see a witch riding a broom... most of the symbols you see now a days for halloween are hallmark... lol
<3Ali
PS Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday, NO one ruins it for me!
