how to mix a cd

I'm trying to mix a cd with clips from songs (not the whole song) for our goat week dance that will have a short pause between each clip of the song. i dont know if I have the right kind of software to do it, because Ive never done it before. I have musicmatch, winamp, creative media source and itunes and cant figure out how to use any of them. If these dont work, does anybody have any suggestions of a software I can download that will do this for me? thanks.

You could also try GoldWave (www.goldwave.com). It's a graphical music editor that's not too difficult to use. I used it to create re-sequenced (in film order) soundtracks of the James Bond films.
