14 year old driver

My friend was killed by a 14 year old driver who stole a car. I think this is the saddest thing I ever heard. The 14 year old should be taught better then steal a car, and even drive a freaking car without a permit. The parents should have there children by the balls so he cant steal a car. Oh, and then what did the kid do... he ran, fled the scene and thank god there were witnesses. Im so pissed and raged right now. If this kid just gets juvie then I will just totally be heartbroken

I am really sorry to hear abou t your friend.

Crazy as it seems, in Iowa you can get your permit at 14, even a special permit that lets you drive to school and school related functions at that age *without* a responsible adult with you.

I think in the case of your friend's killer...it isn't the 14...it is the *stolen* part that makes is so awful.....he was already not a good person....

That's awful - not only must everyone be upset for the loss, but also for the senseless way in which it occured. I am truly sorry to hear this sad news.

Yeah, I learned in driver's ed that the same is true in Cali. If you need to drive to school and don't have a guardian to take you or you don't have any means to get there otherwise.

I was thinking the same thing. I know the kid was probably scared out of his wits, but come on, run away? He should've called for help, your friend's life was more important than being scared. Better yet, he should've just stayed at home that night. Well, thinking about what should've been done won't help, but I will say that I pray for all of you to be comforted somehow. No one should have to endure a tragedy like this, NO ONE AT ALL. If you ever need to vent again, we'll all be here.

thanks everyone for your words and prayers. I just cant believe this happened. It seems so surreal to me. He is the first person I really knew who died, and totally before his time and he really wanted to go to college, and now doesnt have the chance.
