Travel advice- South Beach v. Key West

Okay, my college girlfriends want to get together and have a trip this fall. The ideas originator wants to go Key West but the others are thinking they would rather go to South Beach. Anyone out there familiar with one or both who can give me some ideas of what they are like, the pros or cons of each. What is the cost, the flavor or whatever??? Thanks for your input.

South Beach v. Key West

Both are fun areas to visit. However, it depends on the dates you choose to travel. South Beach, IMO is over rated. Consider me biased because I was born and raised in Miami. South Beach will be more exciting and you will probably see more celebs. Key West is exciting but not on the same level as South Beach.

I went to South Beach for a graduation present ( may 13th to 20th). I had a blast!!!! I stay in my time-share on Ocean Drive. And I did see lots of celebs (Jay-Z, who by the way is cute in person). Key West is nice too...just more low key!!!!

lol, i got bored in key west within like 2 hours. south beach is over rated, though....it's fun to visit, but i guess it lost the hype after i lived here for a while.

I love South Beach. Had great times there

However I would love to go to Key West. Only because I was born there and was not even 2 years old when my dad was transferred to VA (Navy). I would like to see what it's like

Thanks for the responses. This is just a weekend getaway and based on what I think we like to do, I think this trip should be South Beach. It is also less expensive to get to. Any other thoughts, suggestions, or recommendations for places to go are welcomed!
